We are an organization that provides free personal hygiene items to GCSD students and their families.

While filling an inventory request with our high school liaison and board member Shannon Clegg yesterday, she shared some touching anecdotes.

Shannon spoke about how a student that uses the high school Caring Closet was able to connect another student who was in need and tell them what the Caring Closet can provide them. The students were able to get what they needed and go about their school day.

There were also 2 recent fires that affected high school students and they were able to “shop” for their families hygiene needs right from the Caring Closet.

This is why your support matters! We are helping to make some tough situations a little less difficult for students just trying to navigate their school day. ❤️🤍

We were asked if we could help the GES family that was affected last week by a devastating fire and of course we said yes!

We always try to help when there is a an urgent request from one of our schools and your support continues to make that possible. Our community is one of the best!

What a busy week we had last week, getting our schools ready for the new year!

This year not only did we make sure the Middle and High school had a refreshed stock of supplies, but we also dispersed the Costco donated backpacks to all of our schools! Everyone was so grateful and happy to see us back at it!

Every child deserves to feel secure in their personal hygiene when they go off to school. The Caring Closet has been making things easier for our families in need going on almost 5 years now! We appreciate your continued support and stayed tuned for new ways you can do just that!

Last night we donated 60 backpacks to our local nonprofit friends at the Guilderland YMCA for their Running Start program. Running Start helps kids in need secure school supplies and clothing for back to school.

They were in desperate need and we are always willing to help those in need! But don’t worry, the other 440 backs are all being distributed to our 7 schools in the district with drop offs already scheduled before school starts. ❤️

When we all work as a team, everybody wins! So glad we could help them out, all thanks to Costco and their amazing donation to us.

A special thanks to Leanne Royer who met up with our Founder, Amanda Beedle, to make the exchange. 🚙 🎒🎒

This past Sunday our board met to debrief about the 2025-2026 school year and prepare for the 2026-2027 one. When we get together one of the newest tools to assist us in that prep is our year end surveys to the families.

The data we collect helps us guide the programming for the upcoming year. But our favorite part is reading the comments from families on what this hygiene program means to them. ❤️

As the Summer winds down and the new school year approaches, we look forward to helping those in our community for our 5th school year.

One of those ways will be to distribute the 500 backpacks to our students in need that we received at the ribbon cutting for the new Costco. Costco was looking to connect with a local nonprofit and we were recommended. They were beyond generous in their donations, which included a $1000 Costco shop card! Thank you Costco!!

Obviously we needed some help getting these backpacks to our space and that is where Vm Choppy stepped up! We can’t thank them and their driver, Jim Saville enough for their help!

We always say, it takes a village to help us continue on our mission and people keep showing up for us! ❤️🤍

Yesterday a refill was dropped off to the high school Caring Closet to ensure the students could take as much as they needed to get them through the Summer months.

But never fear!! One of the perks with the high school Caring Closet is that there is access to it during the Summer months during the normal school work day.

We will make sure that the stock is filled and ready for those students and families who might need a little extra to get by while school is not in session.

We are always grateful for your support and it really does go a long way in helping those in our community! ❤️🤍

AND THAT’S A WRAP on the 2025-2026 school year for us! 😁👍🏻

Today we filled our Summer Stock Up bags for all 5 elementary schools. These bags differ in the fact that what we supplied will cover 4 months for a family.

It is no easy feat and a lot of planning and organizing goes into this last fill of the year. One thing we do is buy economy sizes of what we need. This cuts down on how heavy bags are and how many bags we need to give to a family.

We can’t thank you all enough for supporting us all year long. The families we help are so grateful and we are too!

We are already looking ahead to the 2026-2027 school year and how we can continue to best serve those in our community. ❤️🤍

We had a request from an elementary family that has sensitive skin issues. They asked for these products to help them manage their issues. 😢

These products are not cheap and it’s just one more way that your generosity helps us help those in need.

Imagine being a child in elementary school and itching and scratching as you are trying to learn. The ability to focus goes out the door. We are always happy to assist when these types of requests come in. ❤️🤍

This morning we dropped off supplies to the high school for Junior Prom and Senior Ball season!

These events are milestones to be remembered fondly, not as moments of sadness because a teen didn’t have access to things that would assist them in feeling and looking their best on the big day.

Dozens of make up items, nail polishes and even some fun glittery body splashes will be added to the closet for those in need.

We do the best we can to accommodate the high school students and this is such an easy YES for us!

Sometimes it’s just the little things….
