December 19, 2025, WWII Veteran, John "Bud" Mathias celebrated his 100th birthday at Vista Rosa Assisted Living Facility, surrounded by his family and neighbors. Bud served in the Navy as a gunner on a landing craft at the Normandy invasion. Later, he was a salvage diver with the Coast Guard. Patriots of Welcome Home Military Heroes, Patriot Guard Riders, SLO Veteran Center, Vietnam Veterans of America, and American Legion were present to sing Happy Birthday, and present Certificates of Appreciation, Challenge Coins, Mail, and a hearty "Welcome Home!" There were two more WWII veterans, Bill Harlan, who was part of the presentation. Another resident of the facility is also a WWII veteran.

On March 30, 2025, members of VVA Chapter 982, and Welcome Home Military Heroes visited Harold Siler, a 101-year old, WWII USAAF veteran at his assisted living household. There were fifteen family and friends present who had many stories to share about this outstanding man. He was presented with Certificates of Appreciation from Congressman Salud Carbujal, Assemblywoman Dawn Addis, Welcome Home Military Heroes, and VVA Chapter 982, plus a challenge coin from Welcome Home and VVA. Afterward, Paul, Mike, and Dennis joined in a salute which Harold returned.

March 29, 2025, National Vietnam War Veterans Day, at the Vietnam War Memorial, Washington, DC.

March 29, 2025, National Vietnam War Veterans Day, and 50 years after the end of the war, our VVA Chapter 982 was asked to post the colors at the College Rodeo Roundup at Elks Event Center, Santa Maria, where we and two Navy veterans were given special recognition by the Rodeo announcer and managers. The two Navy veteran sailors, Pescatore, and Bloom. We were proud to participate and honored to receive a sincere "Welcome Home!"

At our March meeting, Chapter 982 renders honor and respect to the VVA and AVVA members who have passed on. We are headquartered in Guadalupe, CA. After the meeting, we go to Guadalupe Cemetery and render honor and respect to three Guadalupe veterans who were killed in action in 1969. This is the ceremony on March 8, 2025.
