Thank you to the Grundy County Community Foundation for the seed money to fund our dehumidifier project. We absolutely could not keep this building going without the help from grants and donations. We are so eternally grateful!❤️‍🩹💕❤️

Grundy County is stronger because of local generosity 💙

The Grundy County Community Foundation awarded $150,047.34 to 22 projects during its 2026 Awards Celebration on April 22, supporting initiatives that enhance health and safety, expand opportunity and access, strengthen vibrant communities, and empower youth across the county.

From fire department equipment and senior meals to childcare, workforce development, and community spaces, these grants will make a meaningful impact for residents throughout Grundy County, today and into the future.

As the year closes Maroon & White would like to thank all of our supporters and donors. We feel like we experience the Christmas spirit 365 days a year with the generosity of so many people and businesses. Maroon & White, Inc. is honored to preserve the historic nature of the beautiful former upper elementary school. And even better we get to witness the next generation enjoy the building! All because of you!

Neal Schatz, Jaymie Randel, and Dave and Stacey Lyman hosted an amazing Tour of Europe Celebration including Chicken Marsala, Dauphinoise Potatoes, Maque Choux, Cheesecake and Limoncello on November 8th for 16 as part of the silent auction dinners up for grabs during the Felix Grundy Festival. The effort, time and money donated by these spectacular hosts is so appreciated by Maroon & White. It would be very remiss of us if we didn't also thank those that purchased the Signature Dining Experience. Due to our fundraising efforts in 2025, we were able to absorb the increased expenses which allowed us to keep the rent level for 2026 and make some necessary updates to the building. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

In July we had a silent auction for 5 dinner experiences. Last night 16 lucky guests experienced an Immersive Dining Experience hosted by Dave & Stacey Lyman and Tim & Becky Frisch. To say it was delicious is an understatement. They did not miss a thing - the ambiance, the food, the open bar, the conversation was magical. Maroon & White could not serve the community like we do without the generosity of these hosts and the couples that purchased the dinners. This was just one of the 5 dinner experiences. Thank you to everyone who played a part in this fundraising event. We look forward to doing it again!!

This happened at the Megan Lyman-Hook playground over the weekend. The latch is completely demolished and was done purposely to destroy property. Maroon & White, Inc. will press charges. Come join us at the Back-to-School bash on Friday, August 29 from 4:30-6:30 behind the bleachers at the high school. Chamber Main Street is sponsoring this event and will have inflatables and lots of vendor tables. We will be selling our remaining lockers- adopt one before they are gone!! And we have 6 spots left for the amazing dinner sponsored by Wes & Sue Beenken and Stacy & Jon Freese.

We feel blessed at the Uncky Daylo Kids Campus. First Jim Bergman responded to our fund-raising letter by donating much needed office equipment to Maroon & White. We were like kids in a candy store picking what we needed. Steve Bergman was so patient with us. Then, Ethan Kappel, Judd Jirovsky, Carter Ruth, Pete Lebo and Brayden Davie helped move it into the building. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

The Megan Lyman-Hook playground at the Uncky Daylo Kids Campus is not just a playground. It is a memorial for a brave young woman who lost her battle to cancer. This playground is so much more than a place where kids 0-5 can hang out, have fun and enjoy the outdoors - it means the world to the families that donated the playground because this represents what meant so much to Megan.
So it is with a heavy heart that I must post this. The Grundy Center Police Department has asked that we reach out to this group in an effort to get the community involved before they have to step in.
The damage to this playground is consistent and can be avoided. And our plea today is to ask each of you to have a conversation with your children about respecting the property. If you have older children, this playground really isn't for them. Just the weight of their bodies puts too much pressure on the equipment. It is really meant for 0–5-year-olds.
The damage is enormous and consistent- fencing that is so bent possibly from children standing on top of it or jumping over the fence and catching it that the latches do not latch. Bent latches to the gates from a force so strong it is not caused by wind, broken locks to anything that we try to lock and tipped over equipment or rough housing on the equipment that break parts of the equipment.
The Lyman and Hook families raised $170,000 for this playground to be available to the community and honor Megan. Please talk with your children and ask them to respect it.
