The is calling on state leaders to take immediate action. The organization, led by President Gerald Griggs and Incoming President Gwen Westbrooks, is urging and the Georgia General Assembly to release emergency surplus funds to temporarily sustain the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program during the shutdown.

A government shutdown doesn’t just happen in D.C. — it hits Georgia hard. 🚨
👉🏾 Federal workers in our state could be furloughed or forced to work without pay.
👉🏾 Families may lose access to programs like WIC and Head Start.
👉🏾 Air travel at ATL could see delays with unpaid TSA and air traffic staff.
👉🏾 Farmers, small businesses, and universities could face stalled loans, grants, and contracts.
👉🏾 National parks and historic sites may close, hurting local tourism.
The longer it lasts, the more Georgia families and communities feel the pain. We deserve better than political gridlock. ✊🏾
