This week, your firefighters hosted IAFF Peer Support and Resiliency Training. Firefighters, Dispatchers, HR Professionals, and Clinicians attended this training together to learn how to support their peers and themselves when they may be experiencing behavioral health issues. Thank you to United Way and Samaritan for supporting and funding this opportunity!

This job isn’t about whose name is on the door.

It’s not your sandbox. It’s not my sandbox. And the second we start acting like it is, we lose sight of what actually matters.

The public doesn’t care what patch you wear.
They don’t care about district lines, politics, or who “owns” the call.

They care about one thing:
Did you show up and solve the problem?

Mutual aid isn’t a favor. It’s the job.
Working together isn’t optional. It’s the standard.

If we’re more worried about territory than teamwork, we’re wrong.

If we’re more focused on credit than outcomes, we’re wrong.

Strong departments don’t compete with each other they make each other better, they become unified as one entity.

Becoming proud of just saying you’re a “firefighter” not having to specify where.

At the end of the day, it’s one mission:

Serve the public. Back each other. Get the job done.

As College Station voters consider seeking a referendum on civil service and collective bargaining for the fire department, TSAFF President John Riddle urged the city leaders and the fire chief to comply with the law, not violate firefighters' First Amendment rights, and address recent workplace threats of retaliation made against them. "We remain hopeful that the local dialogue can be constructive as your community learns more about civil service and bargaining," Riddle wrote. "Please remember that civil service and bargaining in the Texas fire service are not new. It has long been supported by state law, by dozens of Texas cities, and by Republicans, Democrats and Independents. In fact, many cities find them to be a cost-effective systems that stabilize the workplace and protects the interests of both the city and the firefighters." TSAFF also provided the city with a legal opinion regarding an apparent attempt to intimidate firefighters with a fire chief-ordered poll on the issue. BREAKING: Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and Negotiators Assisting Groves Police with Barricaded Man

Groves-The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and negotiators are assisting the Groves Police Department with an active barricaded subject situation in the 5100 block of Doyle Avenue in Groves, according to JCSO Chief Donta Miller.

Groves City Marshal Chris Robin tells KFDM it began as a domestic disturbance call at about 1:15 this morning and quickly escalated.

He says a man is the only person they believe is now in the home.

Law enforcement personnel are on scene and working to resolve the situation safely.

Residents in the immediate area are asked to avoid the 5100 block of Doyle Avenue and surrounding streets to allow emergency responders to conduct operations without interference.

No additional information is available at this time. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
