Over the next few weeks, we'll be introducing you to some of the artifacts that will soon be on display in our upcoming exhibits. Today, we're showing a sea bag on loan from the American Civil War Museum. Sailors kept spare uniforms and personal items in cloth bags. Stored in secure areas aboard ship, the bags needed to be easily identified. Italian-born Thomas Costa of the Confederate gunboat CSS Chattahoochee personalized his bag to keep his possessions safe.
