Looks like there will be a bit of rain this morning but it should clear up and I think we should be able to get in our test and tube day. Stop in and check it out if you are curious about how it all works and what these kids need to do to compete.

We will be having our third annual ACGC Supermileage Test Day on April 19th. This gives the class all day to get the cars out in the parking lot and test to optimize mileage and find anything that might fail during the actual competition. Feel free to stop in at any time on the 19th to see the cars run and watch the students tackle the tuning and optimization needed to be competitive in Brainerd.

It's been a while. This going to be quite a bit of info. We have both cars approaching readiness for outdoor testing. The new front suspension/steering is on both cars and the Super Sport car has new, hot rod hydraulic brakes all set up and ready. The E85 team is welding in the pedals today and I will be picking up the parts to bolt the E85 steering rack to the frame. Brakes were a bit of a problem last year. They should be vastly improved this year. Chains have been a problem forever. The drive systems have both been updated to hot rod 20mm x 8mm pitch belt drives. If we can ever get the weather to cooperate, these cars are going to run significantly more before we hit the competition than any other vehicles ACGC has taken in my time at the school. Great work by these guys even with me out of the office.

So, we are getting a bit desperate. We need 1" x 1" square aluminum tubing for our Supermileage chassis' and I can't find anyone who can get it to us without charging outrageous prices for shipping. Does anyone know a local individual or company that would be willing to part with some aluminum tube at a fair price?

Here's a quick update midway through week 3 of our build. The Super Sport vehicle (former electric) has the location for the motor fabbed in. We are switching to belt drives this year and we have our clutches updated to work with the new belt bell. Wheels and spokes are on order as well. Both cars are getting new front ends with a much lighter, simpler design that allows the drivers to extend their feet further forward and drop the overall height. The kids have done a great job trying to gather sponsorships and funds but the money is disappearing quickly. We have gathered $1770 but only have $750 left. If anyone knows anyone else that would be willing to donate to the cause please contact one of the team members or myself to make arrangements.
