Grove City animal rescue? Any others? We can help our furry neighbors too!

Old blankets, sheets, and bath towels may look ready for the trash, but many animal shelters can still put clean, usable ones to good use.

They can help keep kennels warmer, give frightened animals softer bedding, and provide staff with extra towels for cleaning, drying, and daily care.

Before donating, it is always worth checking with your local shelter because needs can vary and some facilities may have rules about the materials they accept.

Something sitting unused in a cupboard could become a little bit of comfort for a dog or cat waiting for a home.

Should I call 911, 988, or 211?
Depending on the kind of help you need, there are different numbers available to call, 24/7/365.
Call 911 when there is a situation where law enforcement, firefighters, or medical help is needed right away.
Call 988 when you need to talk to a trained crisis counselor right away. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, a substance use crisis, mental health crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress, this is the number to call. You can also call 988 if you’re worried about a loved one who might need this support.
Call 211 when you have other types of needs, such as help paying a bill, finding employment, or finding a food pantry in your area.

An estimated 24 people per minute—totaling more than 10 million to 16 million individuals annually—are victims of physical, sexual, or psychological abuse by an intimate partner in the United States, according to the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

Lifetime Prevalence

• Women: Nearly 1 in 3 to 35.6% of women experience physical violence, sexual violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
• Men: Approximately 1 in 4 to 28.5% of men experience intimate partner violence or physical abuse in their lifetime.
• Age Factor: Domestic and dating violence are most prevalent among young adults and adolescents aged 18–24.

And, yes, it affects our community.

Last night’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors presentation was incredibly informative, well attended and helpful. Amy Foley of the United Way, Megan McConahy of AWARE, and Dan Ritenour of Christian Assistance Network spoke on the important role each play in supporting the vulnerable people of our community. Thanks to the Grove City Area Historical Society and Museum for hosting this important event!
