After serving three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, USMC Corporal Joey Warren returned home with service-connected injuries that resulted in a 100% VA disability rating. Rather than letting those challenges define him, Joey chose to build a new future.
As a single father, he completed veteran entrepreneurship programs through the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, the Semper Fi & America’s Fund Apprenticeship Program, and additional small business training to pursue his dream of business ownership.
Today, Joey owns JW Turf, a science-based lawn management company that has experienced rapid growth throughout Central Florida. To help support that growth while accommodating spinal injuries sustained during combat, Work Vessels for Vets partnered with the to provide a ride-on sprayer, splitting the $19,000 investment.
The new equipment is expected to increase JW Turf’s business capacity by 30% while allowing Joey to continue serving his customers more safely and efficiently.
“As a veteran-owned and operated company, this equipment represents much more than a piece of machinery,” Joey shared. “Because of your generosity, I am better equipped to grow my business, serve my customers, and continue building a company that reflects the values of hard work, integrity, and service that I learned during my time in the United States Marine Corps. Thank you for believing in my vision and for investing in veteran entrepreneurs like myself.”
At Work Vessels for Vets, we’ve learned that these awards are about far more than equipment. They are tools of change, keys to new opportunities, and often a lifeline when it is needed most. Veterans like Joey go on to strengthen their communities, create jobs, and inspire others through the businesses they build.
Thank you to everyone who makes these life-changing awards possible.
