The stunning new flags and poles were installed on Main and Hollis Streets' Avenue of Flags in time for July 4th by the Scouts of Troop 3! The entire Groton Woman's Club, Jon Taylor, Steve Onishi and BSA Troop 3, and Don Black of 250th Celebration Commemoration Committee give many thanks to all those who donated to this campaign to replace the forty-year old flags. Jon worked to make solid new 2-piece poles, fixtures, sourced beautiful finials and secured the new flags. Troop 3 stores these flags, puts them out for patriotic holidays, and takes them down, while monitoring the weather all the time so that the flags are stored dry. More flags will be installed to extend the Avenue of Flags to Prescott Common later this year. We are so grateful for the generosity of our townspeople.
