We offer free after school programming to the girls of Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School, Groton Middle School, and the high school girls of Groton and New London. Our curriculum is built upon the elements of The Wellness Wheel and includes units designed to nourish the "whole girl". Topics include: Stress and anger management, media literacy, body image, healthy relationships, financial literacy

☀️ A Little Sunshine on a Rainy Day!🌧️💛

On this rainy and gloomy day, we’re bringing a little sunshine to your timeline by looking back at some of our favorite moments from this summer’s S.T.E.P.S. Summer Leadership Enrichment Program! 🌊🏖️🏊🏾‍♀️

Our beach and pool days were about so much more than just having fun. These were the days when our girls could simply be themselves—laughing, playing, relaxing, and enjoying one another.

Some of our favorite memories were seeing girls who were usually a little quieter come completely out of their shells, filling the day with laughter, smiles, and pure JOY. 💕 There’s something special about creating spaces where girls feel safe enough to let go, have fun, and just be kids.

So while the skies may be gray today, we’re smiling at these memories and soaking up a little bit of that summer sunshine! ☀️💦💛

A huge THANK YOU to our local Olive Garden in Waterford, CT for showing our girls some love during our S.T.E.P.S. Summer Enrichment Program! 💚✨

Olive Garden generously provided a delicious lunch for our girls not just one day, but TWO days! And when we say they enjoyed it… they ENJOYED it! 😋🍝🥗

The girls were going back for seconds and even asking if they could take some home—and thankfully, Olive Garden made sure there was more than enough to go around! ❤️

We are incredibly grateful for community partners who pour into our girls and help make experiences like our Summer Enrichment Program extra special.

Our S.T.E.P.S. Summer Enrichment Program is all about giving our girls opportunities to explore, learn, move, and experience something new! 💜☀️

We kicked off the morning with a special visit from Firefighter Margo, who gave the girls an up-close look at what it takes to serve as a firefighter. They even got the chance to try on the gear and experience just how heavy it is! 👩🏾‍🚒🔥

Then we switched gears and got moving with an energetic Dance Workshop led by Liberty Frederickson, a dancer with the Connecticut Sun! 💃🏾🏀 The girls learned choreography, moved their bodies, laughed, and expressed themselves through dance.

These are the experiences we love providing throughout our Summer Enrichment Program—exposing our girls to different careers, introducing them to inspiring women, building confidence, and reminding them of all the possibilities available to them. 💜✨

Our girls had an amazing time during last Thursday's STEM activity with BEC (Black Engagement Council)! 💙

Working in teams, they were challenged to design and build their own submarines. Through creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and lots of laughter, they brought their ideas to life while building meaningful connections with one another.

The S.T.E.P.S. Summer Leadership Enrichment Program is off to an amazing start! 💙☀️

Our girls have been learning, laughing, creating, and making new friendships from day one!

Day 1 was all about breaking the ice, getting to know each other, completing a fun obstacle course, and enjoying the beautiful waterfront views together.

Day 2 kept the energy going with a fun Zumba session that had everyone moving, laughing, and having a great time! The girls also tapped into their creative side by painting canvases and rocks and making beautiful jewelry.

Watching these young ladies step outside their comfort zones, encourage one another, and build genuine bonds has been the best part of the week. We are so proud of each of them and can't wait to see all they'll accomplish during the rest of our summer program! 💙✨
