Criminal Possession of Narcotics
Last name: Gray Jr. First: Bennie DOB: 5/30/1979 of 229 Boswell Avenue, Norwich, CT.

On Thursday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 6:06 PM, Groton City police officers arrested Bennie Gray Jr, age 47, of 229 Boswell Avenue, Norwich, CT, following a motor vehicle stop within the City of Groton. During the stop, officers learned that Grey Jr. had an active arrest warrant from this agency.

Gray Jr. was taken into custody on the active warrant. While on the stop, K9 Ewing was used durable by a search of the vehicle and located a quantity of contraband, crack co***ne, and fentanyl. These items were seized.

Gray Jr. was held on a combined $500,000 cash/surety bonds and scheduled to appear in court on 7/6/2026.

-Possession of a Controlled Substance (CGS 21a-279(a)(1)
-Two counts of Possession with the Intent to Sell Narcotics (CGS 21a-277)
-Possession of Paraphernalia (CGS 21a-267)
-Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to sell (CGS 21a-278)
-Operation of Drug Factory (CGS 21a-277(c)

Arrest Warrant Charges:

🚨 Suspect Identified After Cruiser Hit, Two Flee On Foot - Groton

📍Sound Breeze Condos / Pine Island Marina to Plant Street area – City of Groton, CT

📅 July 9, 2026 - around 11:00am

📻 Key Details Reported

-- Groton City Police were attempting to serve a warrant at Sound Breeze Condos when two males fled on foot

-- One suspect was identified as Jaiden Rivera, 18, of Groton

-- Police said Rivera rammed into a Groton City Police cruiser before fleeing

-- The lieutenant inside the cruiser was reported to be okay

-- Rivera was described as wearing gray sweatpants and a black hooded sweatshirt

-- A second male also fled on foot

-- Rivera’s vehicle was found abandoned at the Bayberry Lane Boat Launch

-- K9 units and drones are searching the area near Pine Island Marina and Plant Street

-- Rivera is wanted for first-degree attempted assault and criminal possession of a firearm
