Last but not least, we welcome Town of Groton – Sustainability and Resilience Division and their booth “Help Shape a Climate Ready Groton” to this year’s Expo. At the Climate Ready Groton table, they will invite residents to actively shape the climate action plan through a set of quick, hands on activities. Visitors can add dots or notes to a large map to show where they have experienced flooding, heat, or other climate impacts, vote on which climate actions the Town should prioritize first with visible tradeoffs such as cost and timeframe, and participate in a What Would Make Action Possible board that identifies the real barriers like cost, complexity, or lack of information that prevent people from taking climate friendly actions. A simple pledge wall will allow participants to name one action they can take, one action they need help with, or one action the Town should support for others, turning engagement into forward momentum. Everyone who participates will receive a Climate Ready Groton sticker, and those who complete two or more activities can enter a raffle for a reusable water bottle, reinforcing sustainability while encouraging meaningful participation and providing the Town with actionable, implementation focused insights. Groton’s first-ever town-wide climate action plan, Climate‑Ready Groton, is scheduled for release this summer. This event will offer an opportunity for community members to share their feedback, which will help shape and strengthen the final plan.
