TOPSoccer - The Outreach Program

TOPSoccer - The Outreach Program Sponsored by the Grosse Pointe Soccer Association, the Dragonflies are part of TOPSoccer, an outreach program for players with special needs run by U.S.

Youth Soccer, a division of The United States Soccer Federation. Program Director: Diane Karabetsos

TOPSoccer starts April 21 at Barnes field and ends June 9, with no games on Memorial Weekend. The registration fee $21 includes a ball and jersey. Volunteers aim for one-on-one assistance and lots of fun! The one-hour sessions include exercises, skill drills and scrimmages. The Grosse Pointe Dragon

flies team is made up of boys and girls with disabilities; special athletes who would not be able to compete in the same highly competitive soccer leagues as their classmates and neighbors. Team size rages from 12 to 22 players, depending on the season, and range in age from 5 to 13. At least a dozen volunteers from the local high schools and colleges help out with the Dragonflies. The program is a great way for these student volunteers to gain leadership experience and earn credit for community service as they apply for college or scholarships.
