Courageous Soles

Courageous Soles Hey! We're Maggie and Elizabeth, the founders of Courageous Soles. We started Courageous Soles as a way to give back to teens in hospitals. Want to help?

Maggie is currently a sophomore at Miami University and is a pre-med student. She has a passion for helping others and hopes to one day work in a children's hospital because of the amazing resilience she has witnessed in children who are in the hospital. Through Courageous Soles, she hopes to lift the spirits of those in the hospital and to form connections that will help her one day become a bett

er physician. Elizabeth is a senior at Grosse Pointe South High School and has been a "frequent flyer" at CS Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI for nearly 6 years, thanks to her multiple autoimmune diseases. She has experienced how challenging it is to be a teenager in a hospital built for children. Teens are often forgotten about in children's hospitals, as when people think "children's hospital" they think of young kids, not teenagers. Even the donations of goodies Mott receives are generally geared for little kids. Courageous Soles aims to provide comfort to the teens at Mott who may be inpatient, in the infusion clinic, ER, outpatient clinics, etc. One thing that has helped Elizabeth cope with extended inpatient stays or long days in the infusion clinic is wearing wacky socks. We're talking superhero chickens, cows being abducted by UFOs, "purritos", otters hold hands, and other craziness. Not only do the socks make her smile, but they bring smiles to all who see them. Courageous Soles will be collecting wacky socks to deliver to Mott during the holidays to hopefully bring some smiles to teens in the midst of their battles. You can purchase socks from our Amazon Wishlist (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1Q3D6PT3YOG4L). Your purchase will be delivered straight to Courageous Soles and later taken to Mott. If you personally know Maggie or Elizabeth, you can drop off socks to them. Remember, the wackier, the better (fuzzy socks are also appreciated). Target (my personal favorite), Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack, dollar stores, and Walmart all have cheap, fun socks. And a reminder that we need both adult and kids sizes, as teenagers feet come in every size! Thank you so much for your support! It means a lot to us, and to the teens at Mott!

We got the opportunity to donate to Cincinnati Children's Hospital a few weeks ago thanks to the generous donation from Indian Hill Middle School! They collected over 1,100 pairs of socks. Maggie had a great time delivering them and we can't wait to see the joy all the wacky socks they collected will bring.

Today we’re featuring our Victor. Victor is a big fan of the LA Dodgers and the LA Rams, and we had so much fun finding some special socks featuring those teams. Let us know in the comments what your favorite sports team is, and leave a note of encouragement for Victor ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Victor’s package (and smile) was made possible thanks to your generous donations. If you visit the pinned post at the top of or FB page, you’ll find links for 2 of the main ways to support us financially: our Amazon Wish List and our GoFundMe. We are so grateful for your generosity!

Though it may be Super Bowl Sunday, it’s also Say hi to our friend Lilyana, who just got her socks this week in the midst of the freezing polar vortex. We’re so glad we were able to bring her a little joy and keep her warm and cozy.
Most of the socks in Lilyana’s package came from some recent wacky sock drives. Do you see any familiar socks?

2018 was an incredible first year for Courageous Soles. We want to thank our many donors for supporting us throughout our first year. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve collected thousands of pairs of socks and brought joy to hundreds of kids and their families. We also want to shout out our recipients for inspiring us and driving us to do more and more. Below is a look at all we accomplished in 2018. We’ve been continually blown away by the positive feedback from our community and are eager to see what will happen in the coming year. We hope you all have a blessed 2019!

Huge thanks to Indian Hill Middle School in Cincinnati, OH for collecting a whopping 1,184 pairs of socks!! We are blown away by the sheer number of socks, not to mention the kindness of the students. These socks will go to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and will be our first delivery to a hospital outside of Michigan. What a great act of service from these middle schoolers.

Thank you GTB for choosing Courageous Soles as one of 4 organizations to give back to this year. We were so honored to receive this beautiful, giant stocking filled to the top with socks of all colors and sizes. There was Disney, food, Harry Potter, so many of our most requested socks! Big thank you to St. Paul Catholic School’s 3rd grade for collecting an impressive 313 pairs of socks!! We were amazed at the students generosity and how excited they were to help others. We’ve already gifted some of the socks to kids and teens at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and loved seeing the joy they created.

One year ago Couragoeus Soles made its first delivery. It was earlier than expected due to one of our founders, Elizabeth, being in the hospital, but we were SO grateful to give Sami and her mom some wacky socks to make them smile. Sami is a light to all those around her and made us smile each time we saw her. It was an honor to have her as our first recipient!
Please help us create more moments like these for kids like Sami who are spending days, weeks, even months stuck in a hospital room. A simple pair of crazy socks can make them smile not only when they receive them, but each time they wear a pair. Visit the link in our bio for ways to help (Amazon Wishlist and GoFundMe).
