We are thrilled to officially announce that we are now a Family Troop! This means both boys and girls (ages 11-17) can now join us for monthly campouts, high-adventure camping, leadership building, and the journey to Eagle Scout. We believe Scouting is stronger when families can grow together!

If you're interested in supporting the Scouts, Lloyd's is hosting a Fundraiser Tuesday April 28th 5-9pm!

This weekend, the scouts had the pleasure of staying at Center Lake Bible Camp and experienced an exciting day of skiing at Caberfae Ski Resort in Cadillac, MI.

They dedicated their efforts to working on the Snow Sports merit badge and thoroughly enjoyed the rustic cabin camping experience. It consistently provides a refreshing change of pace.

Troop 1261 recently participated in an overnight camping experience aboard the USS Edson. Our esteemed tour guide, Mr. Eric, a retired Naval Chief Petty Officer and Master Certified Welder, dedicates a substantial portion of his time to the vessel's upkeep, conducting tours, and managing overnight programs. He is also a proficient artisan in intricate knot work. Mr. Eric graciously presented our troop with a handcrafted, framed depiction of the USS Edson, adorned with elaborate knot borders, signifying many hours of meticulous craftsmanship. Furthermore, Troop 1261 was honored to receive an American flag that had been flown over the USS Edson on December 6th, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

The scouts experienced sleeping in the berthing bunk areas, replicating the accommodations utilized by sailors during the ship's numerous deployments to the West Pacific and Vietnam. During the tour, the scouts gained insights into the ship's extensive history, from its commissioning in 1958 to its decommissioning in 1988, as well as understanding the many intricate features and operational aspects of the vessel.

Thank you to everyone who support Grosse Ile Scout Troop 1261 for our 1st annual Raffle for Raking! Congratulations to our 3 winners and thank you for your support, our winners were gracious, provided refreshment for our hard workers and were very complimentary of the work the scouts did to take their yards. One winner even donated their winning ticket to the Grosse Ile Historical Museum property! In all the scouts raked 222 bags of leaves for our 3 winners and raised funds to provide much needed maintenance and investment in our troop trailer.

Thank you to all who participated and we hope you will consider support for future events.

Scouts celebrating the 75th anniversary of D-Bar-A at the camporee! There were many fun events to participate in. Our troop was in charge of the human fooseball. The final night included a campwide troop Dutch oven dessert. 80 & sunny at the end of September? We'll take that win!
