We wanted to remind everyone that follows us about our Be The One Veterans su***de prevention program that is happening tomorrow night. This will be taking place at 6 p.m. tomorrow, June 23rd, at the Charles W. Smith Post 508 Legion Building at 601 Main Street. This event is open to the public and we would love to see you all there! If you would like to hear a bit about the training our President, Kristie Scism did a radio interview with Jim Field at KJAN radio station and she explains the training a little bit while discussing this important topic with Jim.

The Griswold American Legion Auxiliary is proud to recognize Carsyn Adams, Adaline Gade, Sadie Gohlinghorst, and Brystol Wyman for representing our community at Iowa Girls State this year!

Throughout the week, these young women had the opportunity to learn about government, leadership, citizenship, and public service while building friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

When reflecting on their experience, they shared:

“Our thoughts on it are that this is truly an incredible experience, and we wish that those who get the opportunity to do it take it.”

We are proud of the way these young ladies represented Griswold and grateful they were able to take part in such a meaningful program. Congratulations on a successful week at Iowa Girls State!

The Griswold American Legion Auxiliary Post 508 invites you to attend a Be The One Su***de Prevention Training designed to help identify and support veterans who may be struggling with thoughts of su***de. The training is being held at the CCharles W. Smith Post 508Legion Building on Main Street in Griswold.

Every day, veterans face challenges that can leave them feeling isolated and hopeless. This training provides practical information and tools to help recognize warning signs, start meaningful conversations, and connect veterans with resources that can save lives.

This important event is open to the public. Whether you are a veteran, family member, friend, community leader, healthcare worker, or simply someone who cares about the well-being of those who have served our country, your participation can make a difference.

Join us and become part of a nationwide effort to reduce veteran su***de. Together, we can strengthen our communities, support our veterans, and perhaps even save a life.

🇺🇸 Join Us for Our Annual Memorial Day Program 🇺🇸

The Griswold American Legion Auxiliary Post 508 and the Charles W. Smith Post 508 invite our community to gather in remembrance and gratitude as we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

📍 Charles W. Smith Post 508 Legion Building – Main Street, Griswold

We are honored to welcome one of our own local homegrown heroes, Rob Peterson, as our guest speaker.

Special program participants include:
🎵 National Anthem – Grant Rogers
🙏 Invocation – Pastor Jay Denne

The Legion members will present the 21 Gun Salute at Legion Park by the Library this year.

🍽️ The Legion Auxiliary will also be providing lunch following the program.

Memorial Day is a time to pause and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. We hope you will join us as we honor their service and keep their memories alive.
