Hello Solecitxs!

After a year sadly spent apart, SOL is back and ready to create some new memories! To our returning members: welcome back, and to the new members of our familia, we’re so happy you found us! SOL is Grinnell’s group of Latinx students who strive to establish a connection through shared experience, culture, food, dance, and everything in between.

We will have our very first in-person meeting in a year and a half this week Thursday, September 9th at 9pm, JRC 209. Come join us to meet everyone and learn more about SOL and its wonderful events. And… At the end of the meeting, we may or may not (wink wink) have a sweet and delicious snacky snack for you to take home and enjoy.

We would love to see your beautiful (masked!) faces on campus, and would love to see our support from friends far and wide. We love you all!

Latinx and Jewish: Immigrant Narratives and Activism
Feb 21st, 12:00pm CST

As we continue to envision and push for tangible change in this new year, Jonathan Mendoza offers guidance on how we can ground our activism in our own experiences and histories. As a Jewish and Mexican-American activist, spoken word poet, social justice educator, and musician, Jonathan Mendoza fuses arts and education with social and political organizing to shape a unique path to change. In this presentation interspersed with performance, Jonathan Mendoza will discuss his identity and family history and highlight the lessons that shape his own approach to activism. This event is co-hosted by SOL and Chalutzim and will take place February 21st, 12:00pm CST on WebEx. This event will have a live transcript.
