Grinnell Contra Dance Grinnell College's very own group of contra dance students! Learn and participate in various American folk dances and improve your social dance skills!

Contra Dance is a form of American folk dance that has roots in European folk dance, swing dance, Appalachian rhythms, and English country dances. Typically danced to a live band and a caller, contra is the most social dance form on campus. As you and a partner dance through each set, you have the chance to interact with every other couple in the line. Enjoyed across the country, we are proud to keep the tradition alive on Grinnell's campus!
