The Heritage Center is working on its Community Birthday/Anniversary calendar. Please get any additions to Janet Struckhoff by September 1. The calendar is featuring more pre-1900 area settlers and will be ready by the first of October. If you have information on any pre-1900 settlers, please share.

We invite you to join in this great opportunity to enjoy 200 plus attractions across the state of Kansas. You can download this free app and receive free, one time entrance to participating venues for one adult and your family.
Not only is this a great opportunity, but it also benefits especially small museums in your area. These small museums get to showcase their exhibits and receive monetary funding for each person that visits.
This wonderful program runs from July 12-August 3, 2005. The program was shortened this year so time is running out!

The GHS Class of 1975 gathered at the Heritage Center Saturday morning. Francine Huelsman Robben, Pat Lubbers Percival, Della Dohm Berger and Richard Bechard. Back: Tim Percival, Beth Beougher Moser, Cindy Jensen Combs and Larry Teeter. Others present on Friday or Saturday were Ruthie Ostmeyer Muir, Mark Baalmann, and Ron Schoendaler. Deceased members of the class are Barbara Hansen Schiltz and Leon Zerr.

Can't find your Grinnell High School or Grinnell Middle School yearbook? Maybe you forgot to purchase one? Did it blow away in the tornado? At the Grinnell-Angelus Area Heritage Center we have extra copies of a lot of miscellaneous years. We will give you a good deal! We are open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-4:00, and we will be open Saturday after the parade. Get those memories to show your grandchildren!

Looking Back 40 Years: Grinnell won the 1985 1A state girls basketball championship with a 23-3 record as they defeated Spearville 60-45 in the title game at FHSU. Warriors were led by head coach Michela Goll. Impressive last name stat: Just six last names on the team of 11 as three last names, Struckhoff (4), Baalman (2), Schwarz (2), made up 8 of the 11 on the roster. Grinnell girls sports won 10 state titles combined in multiple sports in the 1980s and another four in the 1970s. They also added two track and field state titles in the 1990s in addition to all of their other multiple sport titles in the decades before.
