The forecast at 8am tomorrow is for clouds and 70 degrees- a warm but hopefully dry morning for Ahrens Park parkrun #10

Small Town Baseball will bring loads of players and spectators to Ahrens Park. And the Prairie Burn 3K/5K is downtown at 10am.

But we have a great group of volunteers ready for walkers and runners looking to do a free 5K around a busy park!

FYI parking will be at a premium!!

Mental Health Awareness Month is coming to a close this May, and we have a challenge for you: Put down the screen, step outside, and take a walk.

We know that mental health is just as important as physical health, and sometimes the best medicine is a quiet moment in nature. Moving your body outdoors is a proven way to reduce stress, clear your mind, and reset.

But we also know that sometimes a walk in the park isn't enough—and that’s where our community steps in. Through the Grinnell Area Mental Health Consortium (JPK Fund), we are deeply committed to making sure no one in Poweshiek County has to choose between their finances and their mental well-being.

If you or a loved one needs professional support, the JPK Fund is here to remove financial barriers by:
✅ Defraying the cost of therapy sessions
✅ Assisting with mental health medication costs
✅ Connecting you with a trusted network of local providers

Whether you are seeking support for yourself, a student, or a family member, remember: seeking help is a sign of strength.

Accept our challenge. Find a quiet moment to take care of your physical self, and remember that resources are here to support your mental self, too. We are proud to support a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, both on and off the dirt.
👉 Visit ahrensfamilyfoundation.org/jpk to view our local provider list or learn how to apply for assistance.

What an incredible day we had hosting the Imagine Grinnell Foundation TreeCorps Spring Distribution right here at Ahrens Park! 45 trees were successfully delivered directly to their forever homes across Grinnell on Friday!

A massive THANK YOU to the amazing TreeCorps volunteers! From the heavy lifting of unloading and sorting on our grounds to routing and delivering those trees straight to our neighbors' properties, you all crushed it. Your hard work ensured our community will be shaded and fruitful for generations to come. 🍎🤝

The mission isn't over yet, either—there are more trees arriving later this week for ongoing planting and delivery! We love seeing the park used to grow a greener Grinnell, and we can’t wait to see how these trees thrive across town. 🌱🌳

Big news- our concession stands are officially accepting credit and debit cards! Now you can grab your hot dogs, popcorn and drinks without having to make an emergency run to the ATM before the first pitch. 🍿🥤

(Of course, we will still happily accept exact change and cash, too!) See you at the ballfields!
