Governors Days Update

Due to continued weather conditions and out of concern for the safety of our attendees, volunteers, vendors, entertainers, and community partners, the decision has been made to conclude Governors Days activities for the evening.

While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, the safety of everyone involved must remain our top priority.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, whose generosity and support make Governors Days possible each year. We are also incredibly thankful for the many volunteers, committee members, vendors, entertainers, public safety personnel, and community partners who dedicated their time and effort to this year’s celebration.

To everyone who attended, participated, and supported Governors Days, thank you. We know many families and community members were looking forward to tonight’s activities, and we apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience this decision may cause.

Governors Days has always been about bringing our community together, and we are grateful for the understanding, patience, and support shown throughout today’s weather challenges.

Thank you for being part of Governors Days and for helping make this event a special tradition for our community.

🎡 Carnival Update

Due to weather conditions, Sam’s Amusements has made the decision to close the carnival for the remainder of the evening.

We know many families were hoping to enjoy the rides tonight and understand this news may be disappointing. Safety is always the top priority, and we respect Sam’s Amusements’ decision as they monitor conditions and make operational decisions for their attractions.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and encourage guests to continue watching both Governors Days and Sam’s Amusements for any future updates.

Important Governors Days Update ‼️‼️‼️

Due to weather conditions and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our youngest participants, families, volunteers, and spectators, the Kiddie Parade has been canceled.

We know this event is a cherished Governors Days tradition, and we share in the disappointment of everyone who was looking forward to celebrating with us this evening. We sincerely apologize to the children, families, and community members who made plans to participate.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Rainbow of the Heartland - Des Moines, the presenting sponsor of the Kiddie Parade, and Community Choice Credit Union, our Popsicle Sponsor, for their generous support and commitment to creating memorable experiences for local families. Their partnership helps make events like this possible, and we are incredibly thankful for their continued support.

Thank you to all of our participants, volunteers, sponsors, and community members for your understanding. While tonight’s parade will not take place, we look forward to celebrating together throughout the remainder of Governors Days and creating many more memories in the days ahead.

🎉 Governors Days is underway!

We are looking forward to a great evening in Grimes. Food vendors will be serving throughout the evening, the Entertainment Garden sponsored by Raccoon Valley Bank will be open with music from BCP Live, and Sam's Amusements plans to operate rides as conditions allow.

The Kiddie Parade presented by Rainbow of the Heartland - Des Moines (Grimes, IA) is currently scheduled for 6:30 PM. Light rain will not stop the fun, but we will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the evening. If severe weather develops, we have indoor shelter available and will communicate any adjustments as quickly as possible.

As always, safety remains our top priority.
