Boy Scout Troop 17 charted by Griggsville Christian Church

06/19/2026

We are starting our last full day at camp. The scouts have had a great time and earned a lot of merit badges. Last night was family night as well as the Order of the Arrow call out. We had 5 scouts called out. We are very proud of these scouts! Today will finish up the merit badge classes as well as other fun activities including a water carnival. We had a few wild life visitors in our camp yesterday. A doe and fawn went by while a couple of us were fishing. One of our leaders had a nice catch. We also had a couple turtles in camp that we believe were laying eggs.

Troop 17 had another busy day yesterday. We a scout with a birthday. So staff got all of camp to sing him happy birthday during lunch. We had some storms and did have to take shelter. It then cleared up and we were able to have the remainder of activities. Some of our scouts along with leaders participated in water barrel. Unfortunately this year the scoutmaster team was not able to beat staff. Today is family night so it will definitely be a busy day for us.

Today our troop was the color guard for flags. They had a busy day yesterday. Last night they had the option for nitrogen ice cream, night climb, cookies cooked over the open fire, and the Batman Lego movie. A couple of our scouts are working staff this week. As you can see they are very hard at work! We have already started getting some rain this morning with more on the way. I’m going to try and put the videos from the flag ceremony in the comments.

We are ready for day 2 of camp. I think the boys had fun yesterday. They ended the night with some swimming, others doing the star party, and a glow zip line. They finish up today with the first round of merit badge classes.

Troop 17 made it to summer camp yesterday. They got camp set up and did swim tests yesterday afternoon. Today will be the first full day of merit badge classes and activities.

Today, Troop 17 remembers and honors the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage, service, and dedication gave us the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As Scouts, we are reminded of the importance of duty, service, and respect — values that so many heroes lived out selflessly. We encourage everyone in our community to take a moment today to reflect, remember, and honor those who never made it home.

From all of us at Troop 17, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward. 🇺🇸

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing moms and mother figures who support our Troop 17 Scouts every step of the way.

From early mornings and late nights, to campouts, meetings, service projects, and countless rides and words of encouragement — your love, patience, and support help shape these young men into the leaders they are becoming.

The success of our Scouts would not be possible without the strong mothers and role models behind them. Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the lessons you teach, and the unwavering support you give each and every day.

Today we celebrate and thank you for all that you do. Happy Mother’s Day from Troop 17!
