Scouting America Flint River Council proudly recognizes Ronnie Morton as a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.

Ronald Morton II has faithfully and cheerfully served the youth of the Flint River Council for more than two decades, exemplifying the highest ideals of Scouting through leadership, mentorship, and steadfast dedication.

Ronnie began his service as Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 88, where he was responsible for youth training. His commitment to teaching and mentoring young leaders earned enthusiastic praise from the Scouts he guided. From there, he expanded his impact at the district and council levels, serving as Assistant District Commissioner, Unit Commissioner, and Assistant Unit Commissioner—roles in which he consistently went beyond expectations. Rather than relying solely on phone calls or emails, Ronnie made in-person visits to units, offering hands-on support and encouragement to leaders and youth alike.

Within the Order of the Arrow, Ronnie has been a devoted servant leader, serving as Chapter Adviser and as Lodge Registrar since 2010. As a Nimat Adult Adviser, he worked closely with youth leadership to ensure new members understood the meaning of their Ordeal and were welcomed into active service. His dedication was recognized in 2024 with the Founder’s Award for his outstanding contributions.

Ronnie has also shared his talents at Camp Lumpkin and Camp Thunder, teaching archery and inspiring Scouts in the outdoors. He has served as Registrar for the council’s annual Klondike event and has actively supported unit, district, and council programming in every capacity asked of him.

Even as health challenges have limited him physically, Ronnie’s love for Scouting and his willingness to serve have never diminished. A true embodiment of the Scout Oath and Scout Law, Ronald Morton II is most deserving of the Silver Beaver Award.

Please join us in congratulating Ronnie on this achievement! If you would like to attend the Council Adult Recognition Banquet on March 26th, visit https://scoutingevent.com/095-111026. Registration ends on March 20th.
