Eagle Scout Luke Thompson, Jr. has dedicated over 40 years to service, leadership, and excellence in both Scouting and his community. A lifelong servant leader, Luke has inspired generations of youth and adults through his unwavering commitment to the principles of Scouting.
Professionally, Luke has achieved remarkable success. From 1996 to 2004, he owned Blimpie Subs and Salads in Newnan, Georgia, earning “Franchisee of the Year for Georgia” in both 1998 and 1999, as well as the “Blimpie Chairman’s Award” in 1999. He served as President of the Blimpie Franchisees of Georgia from 2000 to 2002. Following his business career, Luke transitioned to real estate, earning a Georgia Realtor license in 2004 and graduating from the Georgia Realtor Institute in 2005. His leadership in real estate includes serving as Governor, Associate Dean, and Dean of the Institute, earning Georgia Realtor of the Year in 2008, and recognition on multiple “Top Producer” and “Million Dollar Club” honors.
Luke’s dedication to Scouting is equally distinguished. He was the first Wood Badge Scoutmaster in the Flint River Council in 1992 and has served on 12 Wood Badge courses across seven councils. A former Scoutmaster of Troop 45 in Newnan, Luke has mentored numerous Eagle Scouts and served on the Flint River Council Executive Board since 2010, including seven years as Council Advancement Chair. He is a veteran of eight national and world Jamborees, serving as a council contingent leader three times and on staff for five others. His Scouting honors include the Scouter’s Key, Scoutmaster Award of Merit, Distinguished Commissioner Award, District Award of Merit, and the Silver Beaver Award.
Luke and his wife, Sharon, have three children—Nicole, Derek, and Mallory—and three grandchildren. He is an active member of Sargent Baptist Church, serving in leadership roles, and contributes widely to community organizations, including the Newnan-Coweta Red Cross, Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, and Masonic Sylvan Lodge #429.
