Big things are happening at GRCCA FFA 🌱

Our students have been putting in some serious work as part of our school beautification project, and today was a big win. They completed a brand new decorative flower bed right outside our greenhouse, and the best part is every plant in it was grown by our students.

This bed features just a small selection of the plants we have been growing and will be selling at our Spring Plant Sale on April 17, so consider this a sneak peek of what is to come.

We have some exciting goals ahead as we continue improving our campus, and we cannot wait to share the progress along the way.

Happy National Ag Day! 🌱

Agriculture is more than farming. It is science, business, technology, education, and so much more.

From the food we eat to the clothes we wear, agriculture is part of our everyday lives in ways many people do not even realize. It is an industry full of opportunity, and there is a place for everyone in it.

Our students have been putting in some serious work lately and it is starting to show 👏🌱

Today they finished the brick border around our outdoor classroom space, getting everything ready for mulch coming soon. This space is really coming together and we are excited to see the final result.

They have also been busy in the greenhouse cleaning, organizing, and taking care of all of our plants as we get closer to our plant sale.

There is a lot of work happening behind the scenes, and we are so proud of the effort our students are putting in every day.

We had a great afternoon yesterday in the GRCCA Agriculture classroom with our friends from Project United! 🌻

Project United students teamed up with our agriculture students to build “mini greenhouses” out of parfait cups to plant sunflower seeds. Our ag students helped guide them through the process and shared tips on how to help their plants grow.

It was a fun day of learning, teamwork, and getting our hands a little dirty. We cannot wait to see those sunflowers start to sprout! 🌱

We are proud of Promise Blandenburg for representing GRCCA FFA yesterday in the Prepared Public Speaking Competition.

Promise presented her speech titled “Why Agriculture Needs More Young People and Future Leaders,” where she spoke about the importance of the next generation stepping up to support and lead the agriculture industry.

Prepared Public Speaking is not easy. Competitors present their speech to a panel of judges and are evaluated on delivery, content, and their ability to clearly communicate their message. Promise handled the experience well and represented our chapter with confidence.

She placed 6th out of 12 competitors, which is a solid finish for her first time competing in this event.

We are proud of the work she put into preparing her speech and stepping outside of her comfort zone to represent GRCCA FFA.

Great job, Promise!

GRCCA, get ready! We’re celebrating National FFA Week with dress-up days, daily fun, and our brand-new game: Duck Duck Moo 🐄

👕 DRESS-UP THEMES (Open to all students and staff)
• Monday – ’Merica Monday: Red, white, and blue
• Tuesday – Chapter Tee Tuesday: GRCCA or FFA shirts
• Wednesday – Western Wednesday: Flannel, boots, cowboy hats
• Thursday – Camo Thursday: Wear your best camo
• Friday – Future Friday: Dress as your future career

🐄 DUCK DUCK MOO (MON–THURS)
We’re hiding 10 cow-print ducks around GRCCA each day.
If you find one, bring it to Room 211 for a small prize and an entry into the grand prize drawing.
**Winner will be chosen on Monday, March 2!

We’re kicking off something new this year… T-Shirt Tuesdays! 🎉 On these days our students will wear their FFA shirts to spread the word about our program and earn leadership points. We would love for our staff and former members to join in too. It’s a simple way for all of us to show support and stay connected. 🌱💪 Our ag students have been putting in the WORK this week! They planted tons of new plant babies, pressure washed, cleaned, and organized the greenhouse from top to bottom.

On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday we had former, current, and even future ag students pitching in. It was so great to see everyone come together to make it happen.

All of this is leading up to the GRCCA Fall Festival on October 23. The plants our students worked so hard on will be ready to sell. You can expect cheerful pansies and snapdragons, beautiful flowering kale, violas, herbs, and even fall veggies like broccoli and cabbage. There will be something for everyone’s garden.

A huge thank you to every student who showed up and got their hands dirty, and also to our amazing staff who jumped in to help. The greenhouse is shining and full of life because of you.
