On Wednesday evening, Hebron Lodge #314 of Gridley and the Neosho Lodge #27 of Leroy, hosted our annual SCC Masonic Essay Contest dinner in Gridley. Our high school students brought family and friends to dinner along with SCC English teacher, Mrs. Lee. Potato soup, chili, and desserts were enjoyed by all!

The top four winning essays were read aloud by the students and then they were each presented with a hefty cash prize! $1,600 in total was awarded to the contestants this year!

This was a wonderful event with 40 people in attendance!

Congratulations to our winners and keep up the good work. Masons love to see our local students excel!

1st place: Ms. L. Decker
2nd/3rd place Tie: Ms. D. Dornes and Ms. H. Honn
4th place: Ms. A. Harmon

Hebron #314 and Neosho #27 would like to thank our generous sponsors of this event. The Lee and Eileen Anthony Trust, the Coffey County Attorney, Citizen State Bank, LeRoy CO-OP, and the Coffey County Sheriff's department. Thank you all for your continued support and for investing in our local high school students.

WOOHOO! We've met our goal! Which means that everything we raise between now and the end of the 2025 Coffey County Heroes Pull for Special Olympics Kansas and COF Services tomorrow is an amazing bonus! Remember! 20% of the total funds raised will be given directly to COF Training Services, Inc. to be used to fund ANY of their program needs, not just Special Olympics activities. The rest will stay with Special Olympics Kansas and will benefit COF Special Olympics athletes for funding things like athlete meals, event venues, awards, and so much more.

THANK YOU COFFEY COUNTY! Now, join us tomorrow at 7:30p as we pass the Flame of Hope to kick off the Heroes Pull event. Big crowd = Big support for our local Special Olympics athletes!

Shout out to Hebron Lodge #314, The LeRoy Coop, Coffey County Hospital, and Joe and Stacy Augustyn for your contributions that put us over our $10,000!
