In May, the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 216, Gretna American Legion Post 216, Marine Corps League Cpl Douglas Zoerb Detachment #1466, VFW Post 10725 - Gretna, NE and the Gretna American Legion Auxiliary honored 6 fine young men and women who upon graduation from Gretna High School intend to enlist in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, protecting our God given rights.

On this Independence Day, let’s take moment to thanks these young men and women for being the 1% who protect this great nation. So many times this commitment does not get the proper attention and appreciation it deserves. We should be more proud of these folks than the latest Husker commitment - let’s all get this message out over the weekend! Like and Share!

The Gretna Sons of the American Legion Squadron 216 - Gretna, NE will lead a Flag Retirement ceremony at the Legion from 6:00-8:00 pm on Flag Day, June 14th. All are welcome to come and join in the retirement process of sorting, 3 times, and finally retiring them in a fire.

Let your friends and neighbors know so they can bring any used, worn, or frayed flags to be retired. We have 5 bins full of flags and will retire as many as we can in that time frame. Whatever flags do not get retired will be retired at a later date.

You’ve scooped the snow so why not get out and support a great cause! We’re still on for first hand at 7. Pizza and snacks provided. All proceeds to the proposed Gretna Veteran Memorial.
