Work is a gift. And so is rest. 💙

Scripture reminds us that there is a time for both—to work faithfully with what God has given us and to trust Him enough to stop, rest, and remember that the world doesn’t depend on us.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” — Colossians 3:23

Today, we thank God for the work He has given us, the people who faithfully serve our communities, and the gift of rest He built into our lives from the very beginning.

Whatever you do, be faithful with it, put your whole heart into it, do it for Jesus, and trust God with the rest. 💙

Labor Day is the holiday when we honor work by doing our best not to do any. I support this idea.

But it’s also a good reminder that most of the work that matters will never come with a trophy, a promotion, or much applause. It’s raising a child, caring for a parent, doing your job with integrity, listening to a friend, making one more meal, and showing up when it would be easier not to.

Paul writes:
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord.
-Colossians 3:23

God isn’t only present in the big, impressive moments. He is present in the ordinary work right in front of us.

So rest this weekend. Grill something. Take a nap. Then return to your life remembering that ordinary work done with love is holy work.

There are plenty of opportunities this month for us to show up, grow together, and do some good work with love.

Just trying to cool down your feed a little. 😅

Since summer apparently forgot it’s September… here’s a little flashback to cooler days. ❄️

The forecast may have changed, but one thing hasn’t: Sundays are better together. 💙

Come cool off with us this Sunday—good people, good coffee, and a place to worship, connect, and be reminded of what matters most.

THIS MONTH: WE'RE TURNING 20! 🎂💙

But before we celebrate where we're going, we want to remember where we've been.

What's one moment at The Water's Edge you'll never forget?

A baptism. A friendship. A Sunday morning. A mission trip. A House Church. A hard season when people showed up. Something hilarious. Something that changed you.

Your circle matters.

The people closest to us don’t just keep us company—they help shape who we’re becoming.

Keep showing up. Keep encouraging one another. Keep choosing community. And keep holding tightly to the hope we have, because He who promised is faithful.

A message from Pastor Leandra ⬇️

All Fun Month, we’ve been looking at Game Shows to illustrate biblical truths. Our final game show this Sunday is Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Contestants must answer 15 trivia questions correctly in order to win the million dollars. The catch is that they don’t have to answer all the questions by themselves. They get to use lifelines. They can phone a friend who might know the answer when they’re stumped. They can poll the audience to gather the group's wisdom.

It’s really hard to win on your own. You need other people to help you.

I’m not just talking about game shows. Following Jesus is not a solo endeavor. Jesus led a small group of twelve disciples. He occasionally sent them out in pairs, but never alone. In one of Jesus’ final prayers before His death, He prayed that they would always have each other. He knew they would need each other. They listened to Jesus’ teachings together and then helped each other live them out. None of them could’ve started the church on their own, but together they changed the world.

The church gathers all together on Sunday mornings to worship. Then it gathers again throughout the week, in small groups, to help each other apply Sunday’s teaching to our lives, pray together, care for one another, and grow more than we could on our own.

📖🌊 New to Submerge!

Last night, our 4th & 5th graders kicked off Submerge by receiving their Bibles, meeting their groups, and beginning a deeper dive into their faith. ❤️

Submerge is a space where kids can ask questions, grow in their understanding of God, and learn how their faith connects to real life—from navigating friendships and peer pressure to conflict, identity, forgiveness, and loving others well.

We’re so excited to watch these kids grow in their faith, build community, and discover what it looks like to follow Jesus for themselves. 🙌

Here’s to a great year of going deeper! 🌊
