We had such a great time at UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute summer camp!

One of our favorite moments was meeting Jahmir, he was so full of knowledge about animals it was incredibly impressive! Way to go Jahmir, we hope to see you again!

"Smith seemed especially impressed by camper Jahmir Blankman, who sat at the front, asked questions, and almost matched Smith animal fact for animal fact."

The visit by the Nebraska nonprofit is always a highlight for MMI summer campers.

If you are in the Papillion area near Talus Restaurant keep your eyes on the look out for a pet bearded dragon. Someone reported their pet bearded dragon has escaped. Bearded dragons are excellent at hiding and staying very still for long periods of time. They may also be sun bathing or laying on concrete/rocks to absorb additional heat to stay warm. You can contact Lost Pets of Omaha Area to find the owners contact information, Nebraska Humane Society or us here. We can pick up the bearded if you are not able to and try to get him/her back to the owners.

Bearded dragons may lower their body and expand themselves to look scarier from potential predators, or head bob, or even open their mouths. These are all just scare tactics to protect themselves. If you are not able to safely pick up the bearded dragon call someone to assist so this guy/girl can get back home safely.

Got out while in the backyard. He may flare his beard and open his mouth wide but typically they do not bite.

Bubble bath time for tortilla! Tortillas loved when we flood part of their outdoor enclosure with water. While she has a saucer like pool to soak in, she prefers the mud. We flood this area with fresh water and she comes running out of her hut to check it out. The best part, sitting on the hose for a nice spa bubble bath.

Cheddar & Finn love playing hide and seek! In the wild being small is a huge advantage to fennec foxes allowing them to:
Require less food and water to sustain themselves
Increase surface area to release body heat
And hide more easily by finding smaller areas to fit.

Fin always wins hide and seek, but Cheddar gives her best effort 🀣
