Congratulations to Troop 664's own Eli Culbertson who sat his Eagle Board last night and became our newest Eagle Scout. Your family at 664 is incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication. While we'll be sad to see you go as you embark on the next chapter of your life in just a few weeks, we truly value the leadership and inspiration you're leaving behind.
From his Eagle Board Chair:
Hello Timberline,
Tonight, Thursday, August 20, 2026, the Eagle Board of myself, Phil Clester, and Reese Pint had the pleasure of talking with Elijah (Eli) Culbertson of Troop 664.
Eli comes from a scouting family with an older brother and sister who are both Eagles and a younger brother who is currently a Life scout.
Eli will be turning 18 in a few days and heading off the U of O in Eugene where he plans to study Political Science with the goal of becoming a Lawyer so he can help others who have been less fortunate. He would like to be able to give support, like he received, to others and continue a cycle of working towards a better place.
Eli has also participated in Wrestling where he was Team Captain 2024-26; Cross Country, also Team Captain 2026; a member of Key Club 2022-24 and attends Saint Henry’s Catholic Church. In all these there is a common thread of helping with fundraising and community events – whether helping to feed those in need or making new members feel welcome and starting new programs for the middle school.
Eli’s service project was to refurbish the Mat Room at Gresham High School. He said that most of the school had recently been refurbished/rebuilt except for the mat room and the boy’s locker room. He and his team replaced mats, so they fit the floor, cleaned walls, removed outdated electronic equipment off the walls and ceiling that no longer worked and made a new weight board with a calendar, and new graphics. Also, some storage was added, and vinyl graphics were added instead of a painted mural. Eli also submitted pictures of his project which showed the before and after.
Eli, the board was honored to speak with you about your journey, and we wish you the best in your goals of continuing your service to others and becoming a lawyer to help others.
