It’s Easter. The greatest day in a Christianity. If you are a Christian you believe the far out claim that on a specific Sunday morning in first century Palestine, in a rock-cut tomb outside Jerusalem, something happened that had never happened before and has not happened since and that it changes everything, permanently, in every direction.

It is very hard to believe something like this has really happened. I admit it. I have read a lot of CS Lewis and he called it the myth that became fact. The difference between Christianity and every other religion’s resurrection story is that Christianity names a date, a place, a body. Most importantly WITNESSES who were willing to die rather than recant what they saw. You can reject it. You cannot call it vague. This is what the church has staked everything on for two thousand years. Not a feeling. Not a philosophy. Not a self-improvement program. The claim that love is stronger than death. That the one who knelt with the basin and the towel and washed the feet of the man who would betray him is the same one who walked out of the tomb on Sunday morning.

It is an extraordinary claim, It is offensive to the proud. It is foolishness to the sophisticated, it is a stumbling block to the people who want a conquering king on a warhorse instead of a borrowed donkey and yet I do believe . That is why they call it FAITH.

May everyone have a blessed Easter.
He has truly risen. He has risen, indeed.

Want to give a big shout out to my friends Stephen and Cheryl Wellman who have started a soup kitchen in Belton SC. Abundant Table Kitchen. Right now it is one day a week on Friday’s. Baby steps. I am excited for them. The assumption that hunger is an urban problem which it is but often that problem leads to rural areas being chronically underfunded for food assistance. But geography doesn’t insulate people from poverty — it often makes it harder to escape. We need more soup kitchens in small towns and rural areas. People in small towns may struggle just as deeply but without the concentration of services that cities take for granted. Keep these guys in your prayers and pray that other people in other towns will answer the call and let’s make hunger less of an issue in South Carolina

Empowering lives through healthy meals and community support, we are a 501(c)(3) corporation that also offers volunteer opportunities for those looking to make a difference.
