🚨 Employment scams are skyrocketing — and scammers are getting more sophisticated.
According to BBB’s latest Employment Scams Study, reports of job scams have DOUBLED in 2025 compared to last year. One growing trend? “Task-based” scams where victims are promised high pay for simple tasks like liking videos or subscribing to channels online — only to be left unpaid or asked to send money first.
⚠️ Red flags to watch for:
• Unprompted job offers
• Jobs offered without an interview
• Too-good-to-be-true pay
• Pressure to act immediately
• Requests to pay fees or taxes upfront
• Being paid to like or subscribe to videos
• Interviewers refusing to use video
đź’ˇ Protect yourself:
âś” Research companies before applying
âś” Never pay money to receive money
✔ Avoid jobs involving video “boosting” tasks
âś” Insist on a real interview whenever possible
📊 Employment scam reports:
2023: 10,348 reports
2024: 11,748 reports
2025: 23,234 reports
Median losses remain high at $1,000.
