A beautiful baby came into our lives. He was everything a parent would want and lived a full life like most kids usually do.
10 years later, our lives changed again, this time in the other direction. Our boisterous young man was diagnosed of cancer 4 months after his 10th birthday. So rare it has never before been on file as diagnosed in our home country of Nigeria. So rare even doctors would rac

k their brains when they hear of the name- Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT)
We got thrust right into the chaos of the childhood cancer world. It is a world No parent would ever wish to be a part of And for us, this eventually meant practically fleeing with our dying child thousands of miles across the oceans…to the United States where, because of the level of care he received, we were able to have him with us for another 2 years. Childhood cancer is brutal and yet, everyday more than one child is diagnosed. Our Organization’s goal is to raise for awareness for childhood cancer -to let people know it can happen to anyone- and to raise support for the families that have their lives turned upside down in a twinkle of an eye and for the cross-section that eventually lose their children to the menace that is childhood cancer, to offer bereavement support and resources. Some societies are far ahead of others, that is why we also extend our support to indigent children in Nigeria through the hospitals in the hope to have at least, a decent remission rate. Supporting research is a big goal for our organization because it is only with more scientific research and breakthrough that we can hope to have more of our children in remission. Did you know September is the month set aside to spotlight childhood cancer?
Yes, in September we amplify our voices, collaborate for reach and seek to educate, advocate and mobilize for the cause.
The most dangerous thing about childhood cancer is how easy it is to think that it happens to others.and it is often not a conscious thought. it is because it is our innate believe that something that terrible should not happen to children.
But the reality is that it does.
and it is not pretty. or casual. or cheap.

As we prepare to enter September — Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we are proud to launch our 3rd Annual Childhood Cancer Plushies Drive!

For a child going through cancer treatment, a plushie may seem like a small gift. But in a hospital room, during chemotherapy, after a difficult procedure, or on a day when home feels very far away, something soft to hold can mean so much. It can bring comfort, companionship, courage and a little piece of childhood into an incredibly difficult journey.

For the third year, we are inviting our community to help us place these little bundles of comfort into the arms of children with cancer. Our 2026 Walmart Registry is now LIVE, making it easy to purchase and donate a plushie directly to the drive.

September is about more than wearing gold. It is about seeing these children, learning about childhood cancer, supporting families and taking meaningful action.

This is one simple way we can do that together.

Here are answers to some common questions about Childhood Cancer:

1. Can children get cancer?
Yes. Although childhood cancer is rare, it can affect babies, children, and teenagers.

2. Is childhood cancer contagious?
No. It cannot be spread from one person to another.

3. Can childhood cancer be treated?
Yes. Many childhood cancers can be successfully treated, especially when diagnosed early and treated appropriately.

4. Should I ignore persistent symptoms because they may be malaria or typhoid?
No. If symptoms persist or keep returning despite treatment, seek further medical evaluation.

Knowledge leads to early action, and early action can save lives.

Childhood cancer is more common than many people realize.

Every year, an estimated 400,000 children and adolescents aged 0–19 years develop cancer worldwide. Many children, especially in low and middle income countries, are diagnosed late or are unable to access timely treatment.

Awareness is one of the first steps toward changing this reality. By learning about the warning signs, encouraging early medical evaluation, and supporting organizations working in childhood cancer, we can help improve outcomes for children.

Every statistic represents a child, a family, and a future worth fighting for.
