Some days remind us just how much this profession can take.

Today, three firefighters lost their lives while working the wildfire near the Colorado-Utah border. Two more were seriously injured.

The patch on the sleeve doesn’t matter. When firefighters are lost, we all feel it. We know the commitment this job demands, the time away from family, and the risks that come with showing up when others are leaving.

Behind every firefighter is a family that expected them to come home.

Today, we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice and recognize the crews still working under dangerous conditions.

The members of the Greer Fire District extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and departments affected by this tragedy.

Watch out for each other. Bring your crew home.

Rest easy, brothers. We’ll take it from here
