A fun national campaign that encourages people of all ages to be “caught” enjoying a good book. Whether it’s at home, at the park, or on the go, every moment spent reading matters.

At Emerald City Rotary, we love seeing reading become part of everyday life. Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, we’re helping make that possible by putting books into the hands of Greenwood County children from the very beginning.

We missed it… but it’s too important not to share 📖

Yesterday (April 27) was National Tell a Story Day, a day that celebrates the power of storytelling and the role it plays in building early literacy.

The truth is, this isn’t something that should be celebrated just once a year. Telling stories, reading aloud, and sharing books are everyday moments that help children develop language, spark imagination, and strengthen connections with the people around them.

Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, we’re proud to help bring those moments into homes across Greenwood County by providing free books each month to registered children from birth to age five.

So even if we’re a day late, here’s your reminder:
Tell a story tonight. Read a book together. Start a tradition.

Because the stories we share today help shape the readers of tomorrow 💛

A big THANK YOU to the Greenwood Huddle House team for hosting such a wonderful Give Back Night, and to everyone in our community who came out to support Dolly Parton's Imagination Library right here in Greenwood County 💛

Because of you, we raised $421.62 to help cover the cost of age appropriate books mailed each month to local children from birth until their 5th birthday at no cost to their families.

That impact goes far beyond the dollar amount. Every book placed in a child’s hands helps build early literacy skills, strengthen brain development, and create meaningful moments between children and the adults who read with them. Those early experiences lay the foundation for success in school and in life.

Children must be registered to receive books. If you have a child under age five, you can enroll by visiting the link below or by stopping by the children’s department at the Greenwood County Library System.
