Another great litter IMPACT event today. Thank you Ronnie Ables for hosting the Ward 6 litter cleanup with about 20 bags collected. Thank you to all the volunteers who came out as well. Greenwood is a wonderful place to live. ❤️

Today was a litter IMPACT day. Thank you Lander Athletes for picking up 112 bags of litter in just 100 hr across Greenwood. 💪🏼

This is at least our 3rd year of this partnership. We are so grateful to have such a fine University in Greenwood. Residents love coming out to watch these athletes do what they love. Thank you for giving back to your community.

Our spring sports are out cleaning up our community around Greenwood!

Give them a "Go Bearcats" if you see them around!

One of the best things about campaign season? People pay more attention to the issues facing our local community — and I want us to keep that energy going toward the incredible work already happening right here in Greenwood.

This year, Marrio Norman opened the doors of The Optimist Shift, a nonprofit dedicated to mentorship and leadership training for young boys. Yesterday, I had the chance to join volunteers from Keep Greenwood County Beautiful and our Litter Coordinator Amber Napier to talk with the shifters about what it means not only to be responsible for our environment but also a leader — and I can tell you, Mario is doing something special.

Here's the thing about Greenwood: we already have so many people and organizations doing amazing work for those who need it most. The structures are in place. What they need now is more hands.

So here's your call to action: If tutoring, mentoring, or just showing up and hanging out with kids ages 8-13 sounds like something you'd be good at — reach out to Marrio and get involved with The Optimist Shift. He's got the vision. He just needs more people beside him to help carry it out.

Let's show up for the programs already doing the work. 💚

How many pieces of litter do you see in the picture?

Would you believe that almost the whole shoreline of the fishing access looks like this at Buzzards Roost?

How quickly do you think it would take for this to reach the Saluda River during a heavy rain? Pretty quick.

We need YOUR help this Saturday September 19th at 8:30am. Meet at the Buzzards Roost Boat Ramp.

We need volunteers on land and on the water. Kayaks are available free of charge!
