We enjoyed welcoming Gina Wilbanks with Duraclean to our Emerald City Rotary meeting yesterday! 💙💛

Gina, who founded Maid Over, is now the owner of our local Duraclean and shared more about the services they provide to homes and businesses throughout our community.

A special congratulations to Rotarians Les Brown and Wayne Mathis, who were their lucky giveaway winners! 🥳 One received a free upholstery or carpet cleaning, and the other received a free residential cleaning.

We were grateful to spend part of our Saturday doing what Rotary does best, rolling up our sleeves and serving our community!

Members of Emerald City Rotary joined Greater Greenwood United Ministry to give the exterior of GGUM’s Free Medical Clinic building a fresh coat of paint, helping it match the Crisis Ministry building across the street.

Projects like this help strengthen organizations that are doing important work every day for our neighbors. We’re thankful for our fellow Rotarian Rosemary Bell and the entire GGUM team for the many ways they continue to serve Greenwood.

A few hours, a lot of paint, and plenty of teamwork, Service Above Self in action! 🛠️🎨

With the loss of Dolly Parton earlier this week, the Greenwood County Library System took time to honor the life of the celebrity and all of her philanthropic works, including the Imagination Library. Read more below.

A big thank you to Kelly McWhorter and Erin Nodine with Discover Greenwood for joining us at our Wednesday morning Emerald City Rotary meeting!

It was exciting to learn more about Discover Greenwood, hear about their new building, and get a look at what’s ahead as they prepare for their upcoming ribbon cutting on September 22.

We’re grateful for the work they’re doing to promote Greenwood and share all that makes our community such a special place to visit, work, and call home.

Emerald City Rotarians wore pink for Dolly Parton celebrating the joy, generosity, and love of literacy she shared with so many throughout her life.

WEAR PINK WEDNESDAY 💗

Tomorrow, Emerald City Rotary Club is wearing pink as we remember the life of Dolly Parton and celebrate a legacy that has made a very real impact right here in Greenwood County.

For our club, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library isn’t just a program we talk about, it’s part of the work we do.

Through the Emerald City Rotary Foundation and our partnership with the Greenwood County Library System, we help support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library here in Greenwood County, giving local children the opportunity to receive a free book in the mail every month from birth until their fifth birthday. 📚

Our Rotarians help raise funds to support the program, volunteer at community events to help register children, share enrollment information with families, and continue looking for ways to make sure more Greenwood County children have books of their own.

Tomorrow, we invite you to join us as we wear pink in her honor and celebrate a woman whose kindness, generosity and belief in children created an impact that will continue for generations.

Today we were pleased to welcome Dr. Nancy Hart Wicker, with Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, as our guest speaker. We appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the compassionate care and support they provide to patients and families throughout our community!

During the program, our members also put Service Above Self into action by packing 65 comfort bags for palliative care patients as part of a Rotary micro project. Each bag was filled with thoughtful items to provide a little extra comfort and care.

A special thank you to everyone who donated supplies and helped make this project possible. Your generosity allowed us to turn a simple idea into 65 tangible expressions of support for people in our community. 💛

This is Rotary, learning together, serving together, and making an impact together.
