Today, we had the honor of celebrating the well-deserved retirement of a man we believe is the finest Chief Mechanical Inspector the State of Arkansas has ever had Anthony “Tony” Woodard.
Tony, your career has been about so much more than inspections and code requirements. It has been about people, relationships, and a genuine commitment to keeping Arkansas residents safe. Throughout your years of service, you have shared your knowledge with cities across our state, helping others understand not only what the code requires, but why that work matters. Your willingness to teach, guide, and support those around you has made a lasting difference in the communities we serve.
Your knowledge has earned our respect, but your character has earned our admiration. You have led by example, showing us the value of integrity, patience, and doing the right thing. Arkansas has been fortunate to have a leader like you, someone who cares deeply about the work and the people entrusted with carrying it forward.
The true measure of your legacy is not simply the years you have served. It is the knowledge you have passed on, the confidence you have helped others build, and the lives made safer because of your dedication. Those contributions will continue to reach far beyond your retirement.
While we will miss you in your role as Chief Mechanical Inspector, we are grateful that this next chapter will bring you into education. There is something especially meaningful about knowing that future inspectors and industry professionals will have the opportunity to learn from someone who has given so much to our state. We are already looking forward to your class at our next spring conference!

Day Two of the COAR Conference is underway, and we are answering the call to help keep Arkansas residents safe!
Today, our inspectors are receiving valuable training from Simpson Strong-Tie a name many in the construction and inspection industry immediately recognize. Their connectors, anchors, and structural systems are among the products used to help keep homes sturdy, secure, and properly connected from the foundation to the roof.
