we went to summer camp for seven days this month. The boys had a good time. they experienced a lot and learned new things. There's a lot of pics here. I'm going to have a second post with more pics. 'pics post 1/2'

this past weekend we were back at the beautiful Diamond H Ranch.  this time camping out over by a big lake on the property. The last time we went, we stayed in a lodge in the winter time. I think this might be one of the best and most fun outings the boys have had. They all learned to canoe and were canoeing and fishing off and on all day. they caught lots of fish. Also the boys got into groups and cooked and cleaned every meal themselves for the whole troop. It really was a great weekend. And they are already talking about and planning on going back next month.

Central Christian church in Fort Smith has allowed us to use their van three or four times now. So on April 18, our troop went and did landscaping work at the church.

we had a couple scouts that went to the merit badge university at UAFS yesterday. Also there was a number of scouts from Troop 1989. They all took two different classes for merit badges.

on february 22 we visted Arkstar Astronomy in Elikins. These people have a few different telescopes and an observatory. It was a very enjoyable time. The couple doing all this work were very nice to us and very knowledgeable. Everybody learned a lot. Many of the kids had taken the astronomy merit badge last fall.  they have telescopes to look through, but they also had a telescope that can take pictures of galaxies, nebula, planets, and stars.

on Saturday, February 15, the AOL group in
Pack 1989 finished everything for Cub Scouts and had a big crossover ceremony signifying that they are crossing into the Boy Scout troop. The ceremony also celebrated them receiving  the arrow of light award and finishing everything in Cub Scouts. Also in great news, these boys and their leaders are joining our troop 54! we are all very excited about this and look forward to great years ahead.

spent the weekend at Diamond H Ranch. The kids had a blast. They did a lot of cooking and cleaning. And classes all afternoon on Saturday for orienteering compass and map. adults and scouts from Troop 1989 joined us. we all really enjoyed it and plan on coming back.

our troop participated yesterday in the "Scouting for food" food drive. It is a nationwide effort that we do in February. And we gave to a local food pantry all the food we collected. Anybody that was willing to give canned food items. Everybody worked really hard and had a great attitude. Really good experience. and being able to help with giving to those in need. 
we worked alongside Troop 1989 and with
Pack 1989.

our troop participated in Scout Sunday on February 2. we all wear our uniforms. We had boys and families attending different denominations. I attended with Rod at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. Other people attended Methodist, Baptist and Christian Church.
