🚧 Infrastructure Projects Moving Forward

Work continues on the Haigler–Cherokee Waterline Improvement Project, supported by a $1.5 million grant from the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority. This project will strengthen an important part of Abbeville’s water system and improve long-term reliability.

Meanwhile, the repaving project for Perry, New and Conway Streets has officially been advertised for bids. Once bids are received and reviewed, the City will be able to move toward selecting a contractor and establishing a construction schedule.

From the infrastructure beneath our streets to the pavement above, these projects represent continued investment in the essential systems residents depend on every day. 💧🛣️

Counties invest $124 billion annually in public safety, but nationwide staffing shortages make it hard for local agencies to recruit and retain the workforce their communities depend on.

NACo’s new virtual County Law Enforcement Advancing Recruitment & Retention cohort will help counties address that challenge.

Selected counties will:

🔸 Receive implementation support for a new recruitment or retention strategy.

🔸 Learn how to assess strategy impact and discover what is driving results.

🔸 Engage with peer jurisdictions to share experiences and lessons learned.

🔸 Contribute to a growing body of knowledge about law enforcement workforce challenges and opportunities at the county level.

There is no fee associated with applying or participating in the cohort. Applications are due October 30.
