Adam Grant is one of the best-known psychologists alive, and I love how he included a quote on the back of his new book Vibe from his daughter who told him to stop saying “vibe” 😅

If your teenager cringes when you talk, sing in the car, or show up at pickup, you’re not doing it wrong.
To a teenager, life feels like a stage. And we’re standing on it with them.

The good news is that the spotlight is smaller than they think, and the pulling away is part of how they figure out who they are.

So keep being you. Maybe just a little quieter in front of their friends.

“I lost my patience with my kids again today, and I think I’m ruining them.”

A mom in our community said this to me yesterday.

One rough afternoon. A late pickup, a snap at bedtime, and a feed full of moms who look like they have it all together. That was enough to convince her she wasn’t cut out for this.

In our tradition, the goal was never to be a perfect parent. It’s to be a present one.

Your kids don’t need someone who never gets tired. They need a real person who shows them how to apologize, repair, and start over.

If you needed this today: your kids don’t need you to be flawless. They just need you. Give yourself some grace tonight. ❤️

Nobody was flying the plane. 🛩️

On Wednesday, a copilot on a Dubai to Tel Aviv flight stabbed the captain and sent the plane into a dive. The captain, bleeding on the floor, opened the cockpit door with whatever strength he had left. A dentist ran forward without waiting. Three Israeli dads went in after him, and one of them grabbed the controls and pulled the plane out of the dive.

This weekend we finish the Torah. Its very last words point to the moment Moshe saw disaster coming and acted without waiting for permission. And God’s response was “yishar kochacha,” more power to you.

Three years ago, on this same Hebrew date, October 7 fell on Simchat Torah. The heroes of that day were the ones who ran toward danger without being told.

So when we dance this Simchat Torah, let’s dance for the ones we lost, and for the ones who ran. And let’s ask ourselves one question:

Where in my life am I still waiting for permission?
