Annual Conference is kicking off this week, and we're celebrating with a Youth Welcome party at 5pm! We'll have swag bags, food, fun & games, so be sure to swing on by! We'll tell about AC, get to meet some of our Youth Council reps, and celebrate the love of God amidst it all. Voting members are encouraged to sit with us during the plenary sessions (if you want to), and all youth are welcome to join us for lunch & dinners during AC. Watch our story for live updates from youth council reps! See you there!

Mile High Youth Retreat Recap!

Wow—what an incredible weekend at the 1st Annual Mile High Youth Retreat at John Wesley Ranch! From powerful speakers to epic sledding adventures, this weekend was full of connection, fun, and inspiration.

Our theme was "Connected". We connected with each other, with God, and with our communities in meaningful ways. One highlight? A mock city council meeting where youth debated safe parking for those experiencing homelessness.

Huge gratitude to our amazing speakers Rev. Dr. Becky David-Hensley, Rev. Ben David-Hensley, and Maddie Wood, as well as the incredible Justin Bullis for leading us in music. Special shoutout to Darcy Wood for coordinating this unforgettable weekend and Ann Kessler for keeping us well-fed (yum!).

And of course, a BIG thank you to Zach Walker and the John Wesley Ranch team for the warm hospitality, and to all the adults who supported our youth. This retreat wouldn't have been the same without you!

Already counting down to next year’s retreat—who's in?!

Mountain Sky Youth Council applications are now OPEN! And this year, we're doing things a little differently...

This year's YC will take on a leadership development cohort model. Youth participants in grades 8-12 will choose a topic or an original "prophecy project" in which they identify an injustice they'd like to address in their community or a topic they'd like to learn/share more about. This project may take the form of:
-A sermon a youth participant would like to preach in a congregation
-A presentation on a topic youth would like to share in their congregation through public speak, an art installation, or some other means
-A tangible project, such as starting a Little Library at their church, implementing recycling or other green church programs...
-Something else creative!

Participants will learn from cohort facilitators and faith-based activists in MSC and beyond. In exchange for their participation, youth council participants are eligible to receive a $250 scholarship for each year they participate in the Youth Council.

Application can be found at https://forms.gle/vPvpmti8WXhYXVAt6 .

The impact of harassment on youth is very real. It can lead to trouble sleeping, loss of appetite, decreased participation in class and thoughts about transferring schools. The GOOD news is that harassment is preventable, and it can be prevented by fellow young people when they're given the tools to safely intervene.
Youth in grades 8-12 are invited to join us for Bystander Intervention for Youth on Wednesday, Nov. 6th @ 5:30pm-7:00pm MDT via Zoom. Youth may register as individuals, OR youth leaders may register their group and Zoom in from one room together.
Register for this workshop at the link below:
https://zoom.us/.../tJMtdeqvrTMtGNxBAR9h4UQdlPHUlN_4izfy

Youth will learn the 5Ds of bystander intervention and empower them to step up and take action the next time they witness harassment or bullying happening amongst their peers. Due to the interactive nature of this training, a recording will not be provided. Space is limited.

Special thanks to Methodists Helping Methodists Foundation for a matching grant that helped make this possible!
