Water For People aims to reach every household, school, health clinic, and community with lasting water, sanitation, and hygiene services – for Everyone Forever. Our goal is for communities to no longer need us.

When we exit a district, it means people have reliable water and sanitation services, and local systems are in place to keep them running long-term. In 2025, we completed our first official exit.

We're proud to share the highlights of our progress and impact so far. These numbers reflect our local work, with hundreds of thousands of people’s lives changed thanks to the collaboration of teams, partners, and supporters.

Whether you read, share, or comment, we are grateful for all of your support as we continue working toward Everyone, Forever.

The result of our work is clear: safe water and dignified bathrooms make a measurable difference in people's lives across the 10 countries where we work.

At Water For People, we strengthen systems. We are talking big game, from the pipe to the policy strategy. So that local communities and leaders can be the stewards of their own water systems forever. Our job doesn't end when the pumps are built. If anything, that's just the beginning.

Our work ensures that sufficient capacity, financing, governance, and technical expertise are in place to keep water flowing and services running for generations to come. And the result of our efforts?

44 million people collectively reached with strengthened water, sanitation, and hygiene systems.

Thanks to your support, 5.8 million people have reliable water services across the districts where Water For People works.

This number reflects the success and progress of our work, with millions of people's lives transformed, all because of water.

When safe water services are readily available, we see everything change. Girls stay in school. Women have more time for work, education, and rest. Families are healthier. Economies bloom. Communities are stronger.

We are on a mission to reach Everyone Forever with safe water. Learn more about the impact your support makes possible: https://www.waterforpeople.org/impactreport-2025/

We´re thrilled to announce that our 2025 Impact Report is now live.

As we continue to reach for Everyone, Forever, one thing remains certain: transformational change occurs when services are built to last and when the communities and local leadership are part of shaping them.

Access to safe drinking water and a dignified toilet is still out of reach for billions of people. In a world with the knowledge and resources we have today, this is unacceptable.

The reality of this crisis is not the same for everyone. In many communities, women and girls carry the greatest burden – walking long distances for water, missing school, and facing safety risks. Around the world, they spend an estimated 250 million hours each day collecting water.

But when safe, reliable water, sanitation, and hygiene services are readily available, we see everything change. Girls stay in school. Women have more time for work, education, and rest. Families are healthier. Communities are stronger.

Our impact report shows progress and what changes when services are built to last, and when the communities and local leadership are part of shaping them. Our work takes time, coordination, investment, and trust. But we know it's possible.

The planet is sending signals. Rising seas, longer droughts, stronger storms, and unpredictable rainfall. The signals are clear. What comes next is up to us because the Earth doesn't negotiate.

This World Environment Day, we're reminded that protecting our planet starts with protecting water, one of our most vital connections to nature, health, and climate resilience. Together, we can build a more sustainable future for all, where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation services, forever.

At Water For People, Environmental Stewardship is one of our core values. We address growing environmental inequities and are intentional in our partnerships and decision-making around environmental practices.

We believe climate action and the protection of water resources are essential to the long-term health of the planet and future generations. Valeria Cintora, at Water For People, shares, “It’s incredibly energizing to collaborate with colleagues on innovative ideas that help ensure Water For People is truly walking the talk.”

In 2025 alone, we reduced our emissions by 150 tons compared to the previous year, advancing our goal of cutting emissions by 40% by 2030 and 50% by 2040. Through initiatives led by our Green Team, colleagues across the organization are helping reduce plastic waste, lower emissions, make travel and events more sustainable, and embed environmental responsibility into the way we work every day.

Because at Water For People, sustainability is more than a commitment; it's an action.

Shout out to all Green Team members! Julio Cesar Martinez, Azucena Serrano, Miguel Renteria, Jasmine Thevarajoo, Anna Libey, Kelly Latham, Stacie Benis, Carla Dongo, Sugandha Chandra, Wellington Mitole, Mtisunge Mngoli, Gundelinda Sakaya, Johnny Toledo, Chris Freimund, Ruby Novello, Grace Kanweri, Lyneen Watkins, Lenin Carlos, Ravikant Kumar.

Water is a human right, and so are safe toilets. Yet, for too many, these two are luxuries.

At Water For People, we are on a mission to change this for the better, and with your support we can make it a reality for Everyone, Forever.

Can we count on you?

Water tells the story of climate change.

Roughly 90% of climate disasters are water‑related. Floods, droughts, and extreme heat test whether water and sanitation services are built to adapt, endure, and keep communities healthy through change.

To ensure sustainable water and sanitation services for everyone, forever, we must protect the water that sustains our planet. When we protect water, communities get a chance to thrive despite climate change.
