Phase 2 news.
The Ohio Department of Transportation in coordination with the Village of Greenwich and New London-Greenwich Rail Trail Inc is planning a recreational trail improvement project on a portion of the former railroad between New London and Greenwich. Project number: HUR AC&Y Trail: PID 119818. This will be Phase 2 of a three phase completion project of the trail. The project area is approximately 3.5 miles in length, highlighted in RED on the map. Improvements will include drainage enhancements such as repair or replacement of cross culverts under the trail and ditch cleaning. Surface improvements will provide a packed stone base and fine crushed stone topcoat appropriate for a multi-use recreational trail as well as ease of maintenance in the long term. ADA compliant curb ramps will be installed where the trail intersects with roadways. Parking provisions will be improved at the Townsend Street trailhead in Greenwich. The project is funded through Federal Carbon Reduction and Safety programs. The projected start date is March 1, 2026 with a projected completion date of October 31, 2026. Periodic interruption of trail traffic is expected within the project area during construction.
