Absolutely love what Feeding Families Foundation is up to and represents! We support them and their mission: eliminating food insecurity in hospitals (highlighting the differences between access and affordability for parents while their children are in care).

On Saturday, January 25, Feeding Families Foundation will be holding their second annual “Winter Virtual Golf Classic: Fore! Parents of Hospitalized Children” at Golf Cove in North Haven, CT.

Teams of at least 4 players will play 9-hole scramble. For tickets, information and sponsorship opportunities, please email [email protected] to learn more! Spots are filling up fast so if you are in the vicinity and would love to take part, contact them as soon as you can.

Yale Pediatric Hematology/Oncology nurses and their spouses are FREE thanks to their generous sponsors. (Which is amazing!)

This year will also feature a kid's program from 9am-11am and is open to children in treatment at Yale Children's, children off treatment, their siblings, and friends. Chik-fil-a will be providing food and drinks and coffee will be provided from a local coffee shop. This program is free for the children, but space is limited. Please email them to RSVP as soon as possible to reserve a spot for your child or children!

Next Tuesday, the 28th, is Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good.

Over the past ten years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

The Golden Lights Foundation seeks to fund specific, project-centered work which is translational in nature, giving a singular project the ability to impact many different types of pediatric cancers. In turn, the effort increases the number of children it can positively impact.

Help us illuminate a path by making a donation this Giving Tuesday: https://goldenlightsfoundation.org/donate/

September is over, but we will never stop promoting awareness for children and families living with pediatric cancer.

September is over, but we will never stop promoting awareness for children and families living with pediatric cancer.

I Hope

I hope you never have to hear the words “Your child has cancer”.
I hope you never have to hear “The prognosis is not good”.

I hope you never have to watch your child prepare to undergo
chemo,
have a “port” surgically implanted in their chest, be connected to an IV pole.
Look at you with fear in their eyes and say, “Don’t worry Mom, it’s going to be okay.”

I hope you never have to hold your child while they vomit green bile.
I hope you never have to feed them ice chips for lunch.

I hope you never have to watch the “cure” you pray for slowly take
away your child’s identity, as they
lose their hair,
become skeletal,
develop severe acne,
become barely able to walk or move.
And look at you with hope in their eyes and say, “It’s going to be okay Mom.”

I hope you never have to stay in the hospital for weeks at a time, where there is no privacy, sleeping on a slab, your face to the wall, where you cry in muffled silence.

I hope you never have to see a mother, alone, huddled in a dark hospital corridor crying quietly, after just being told “there’s nothing more we can do”.

I hope you never have to watch a family wandering aimlessly, minutes after their child’s body has been removed.

I hope you never have to use every bit of energy you have left, with all of this going on around you to remain positive, and the feelings of guilt, sorrow, hope, and fear overwhelm you.

I hope you never have to see your child’s head bolted to a table while they receive radiation.

I hope you never know what it is like to take your child home,
(grateful but so afraid) in a wheelchair because the chemo has damaged their muscles,
35 pounds lighter, pale, bald, and scarred.
And they look at you with faith in their eyes and say, “It’s going to be okay Mom.”

I hope you never have to face the few friends that have stuck by you and hear them say, “Thank God it’s all over” because you know it will never be over.

Your life becomes a whirl of doctors, blood tests, and MRI’s, and you try to get your life back to normal while living in mind-numbing fear that any one of these tests could result in hearing the dreaded words “The cancer has returned”.

And your friends become even fewer.

I hope you never have to experience any of these things.
Because only then will you understand.

OUTRAGEOUS.

This is why we fight to raise money.

Want to support a cause that address this PREVENTABLE problem? Help us. Let’s start in our hometown of Greenwich.

We want to find and fund new treatments for kids (rather than rely on ones that are 40, 50, even 60 years old and TOXIC). We need your help to address the FDA (and NCI- National Cancer Institute) to fast track the approval process for new pediatric-specific treatments.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Good Morning America Dana-Farber Cancer Institute National Organization for Rare Disorders, Inc. (NORD) Senator Chris Murphy Representative Jim Himes

Pediatric cancer doctors are sounding the alarm about a short supply, or dwindling supply, of these chemotherapy drugs for children: carboplatin and cisplatin, vinblastine, dacarbazine, and methotrexate.
