Pendleton Place opened its doors in 1975 to offer a caring, homelike environment to children entering care. In 1986, Pendleton Place expanded to include a group home for teenage girls in foster care. Today, the original foster care shelter building has found new life as an emergency homeless shelter for youth aged 12-21, and Pendleton Place has added multiple programs to support youth experiencing homelessness. Our Youth Resource Center offers drop-in services in a safe space dedicated to meeting the basic needs (showers, laundry, food) of young people experiencing homelessness. Our transitional living program provides up to 18 months of shelter with structured skill building and case management support for youth up to 21 years old who are experiencing homelessness, while our HUD Rapid Rehousing program provides youth up to 24 years old with a year of support as they transition to independent living.

Last night, new and returning Pendleton Place Board members came together for an evening of connection, conversation, and looking ahead.
We were excited to welcome our three newest Board members — Megan Benton , Will Turner, and Andy Pelinsky — and grateful for the seven members continuing the journey with us: Lindsay Louise Kelly, Realtor, Chair; Denise Richter, Treasurer; Jennifer Rosado, Secretary; Kerri Grimes Smith, Parliamentarian; Amber Johnson Michels; Marshall Swail’s; and Jeanmarie Tankersley Ethridge
Every person around the table was engaged, asking thoughtful questions, sharing ideas, and thinking about what’s possible for Pendleton Place and the young people we serve.
The evening was so good, in fact, that we completely forgot to take a photo!
No group picture this time, just a lot of gratitude, energy, and momentum as we look ahead together.
Thank you to our Board members for giving their time, expertise, connections, and care to our mission of providing safe housing and support so young people can build healthy futures. 🧩

We're very excited to share that our Executive Director, Stacy Hyde, was recognized as one of TALK Greenville's 2026 25 Most Beautiful! Nominated by her peers, this award recognizes her for being one of the beautiful people who encourage and include, volunteer and serve, and make the Upstate a better place. 💚

An update from Pendleton Place:
Due to changes in federal and local funding, next week will be the final week of our drop-in center that has been operating 3 days a week from 2pm-5pm.

While the drop-in center is closing, our work with young people continues. We are continuing our community outreach efforts, welcoming young people who come to our door, and connecting them with resources and support.

Our housing programs remain strong and active, providing stability, care, and opportunity for teens and young adults who need a safe place to call home.

We are grateful to everyone who has supported our drop-in center and helped create a welcoming space for young people. Funding may change how some services are delivered, but our commitment remains the same to provide safe housing and support so young people can build healthy futures.

Painting our home has begun! While it may seem small, a fresh coat of paint can change the feel of a room, and we have been intentional about choosing colors that encourage stillness when life can feel unstable.

We're excited to continue updating our spaces to better serve our young people! 💚

The power of working together! 💚🧩

The SC Interagency Council on Homelessness (SCICH), in partnership with the SC Department of Social Services and agencies serving unstably housed youth statewide, like Pendleton Place, planned and carried out South Carolina’s first statewide count of youth experiencing homelessness. Its goal was to identify services needed to support and house vulnerable young people.

We are grateful to provide services that support and empower young people, and to partner with organizations working toward that same goal.
