Adventure Day is coming June 20th, 10am-5pm. It’s free to get in to simply look at the animals, we will be selling $8 wrist bands to touch the animals that can be touched. We also have limited space for exciting additional activities for kids.
Keeping in spirit with educational adventures we offer a unique experience for your child. Have they ever wanted to volunteer (anywhere) to get closer to the animals but found they were too young? Our Deputy Keeper event provides them with just such an experience. While many of our animals give everyone an opportunity to get up close and personal, we have just as many opportunities that are not so cuddly. In fact, they could be quite dangerous if we get too close, but this does not mean that we can’t have safe and meaningful interactions with them. Sometimes it’s simply providing their favorite meal, a simple scent, or it’s putting together an activity for them that enhances their natural behavior.
Have you ever been up close to a bobcat, how about feed an alligator or some lizards? Our Deputy Keeper activity gives kids the chance to experience animals from a whole new perspective. Sometimes the best enjoyment is watching their happiness; providing mental stimulation is just as important as feeding and cleaning.
The keeper activities include feeding the alligator or lizards, or getting to visit with the bobcat safely up close . Each option is performed in a safe environment with a member of our animal staff and will give your child an opportunity to see things behind the scenes. A parent must attend with their child. Although these animals cannot be touched, being a Deputy Keeper at our Adventure Day is a small part of being in our world and getting a special look at these wonderful animals.
This activity is for children between ages of 6 and 15 and costs $25. Space is limited and must be reserved in advance. To book your child’s Deputy Keeper experience please contact us at [email protected] or 864-246-4425 .
