Dad's Breakfast

Dad's Breakfast A free men’s breakfast hosted by Roper Mountain Baptist Church every other month.

Food, fellowship, and biblical encouragement for dads, mentors, and men who lead the next generation.

This morning’s Dad’s Breakfast was a needed reminder for every man trying to carry a full load.

Steve brought the message “Rest for the Weary” and challenged us with a truth most dads need to hear:

Rest is not weakness. Rest is obedience.

As men, we’re used to pushing through — work, family, bills, yard work, responsibilities, and everything else life throws at us. But a burned-out man can’t build others up.

God designed rest on purpose. Not just sleep. Not laziness. But stopping long enough to remember who God is, give thanks, open His Word, and let Him restore our hearts.

Dads, our families don’t just need busy men.
They need present men.
Grateful men.
Spiritually anchored men.
Men who know how to work hard — but also know how to rest in the Lord.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

Thankful for the men who gathered this morning.

Most men don’t lose…

They just drift.

This morning at Dad’s Breakfast, Fred brought a message that hit home:

“The Man in the Mirror.”

Not the version everyone else sees.
Not the highlight reel.
The real one.

The one you see when everything gets quiet.

We talked about the rat race…

Chasing more money.
More success.
More stuff.
More validation.

And if we’re not careful—we win out there…
…but lose at home, lose our peace, and lose our walk with God.

Here’s the truth most men don’t say out loud:

You can be busy…
successful…
even respected…
…and still feel empty.

Fred broke it down simply:

There are two ways to live—

One driven by: Pride.
Comparison.
Selfish ambition.

The other driven by: Love.
Peace.
Purpose.
Self-control.

At some point, every man has to stop and ask:

Who am I becoming?

Because your life is moving in a direction—whether you’re intentional or not.

You don’t fix this by trying harder.

You fix it by stepping out of the rat race
…and getting your focus back on God.

Take 5 minutes today.

No phone. No noise.

Just you and that question:

“Who is the man in the mirror right now?”

Next Men’s Breakfast coming up May 16th.

You should be there.
