Still thinking about our visit from John Register!

We were honored to welcome John to ECVC as the keynote speaker for our 61st Anniversary Banquet, but what made his visit truly special happened before he ever took the stage.

John spent an hour and a half at our facility meeting our employees, learning their names, listening to their stories, and sharing plenty of smiles and laughter along the way. His genuine interest in the people who make ECVC what it is made a lasting impression on all of us.

Thank you, John Register Inspired Communications International, LLC, for sharing your powerful message with our community — and even more so, for taking the time to connect with our employees.

Meet Bill Mitchum, President of Mercer Glass Co., Inc., and Treasurer of the ECVC Board of Directors!

Bill joined the Board in January 2017 after hearing former Board Member Fred Mattox speak enthusiastically about ECVC’s mission. Since July 2024, Bill has served as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee.

Bill believes meaningful employment helps people with disabilities recognize their abilities, understand their importance to the community and experience a greater sense of purpose and self-worth.

“I believe in ECVC and see it as one of the jewels of Pitt County. It is my honor to serve.”

Outside of his professional and board responsibilities, Bill enjoys golfing, boating and spending time with his family at the beach.

Thank you, Bill, for your leadership and dedication to ECVC!

We are so proud to see Employee Success Story of the Year recipient James Stewart featured in The Daily Reflector.

James, a custodian on ECVC’s janitorial team, completed a registered apprenticeship through Apprenticeship NC and earned his Journeyworker credential — a skill-based milestone he’ll carry throughout his career.

He was honored at ECVC’s 61st Anniversary Banquet on Oct. 1, where his story reminded us all why our mission matters.

We’re a few days late celebrating National Custodian Day… but we have a pretty good excuse. 😅

The night before, we were busy celebrating one of our own — James Stewart, ECVC’s 2026 Employee Success Story of the Year — at our 61st Anniversary Banquet! 🎉

So, technically, we missed the social media holiday because we were still busy celebrating a custodian. 😉

While we may be a little late to the post, we’re never late to say thank you.

We’re proud to recognize James and all the hardworking members of ECVC’s custodial team who work behind the scenes every day to keep the facilities we serve clean, safe, and welcoming.

Your work matters, and we appreciate all that you do! 💙
