The Upper South Carolina Council was the recent recipient of two awards from the Navy League of the United States. One was for our overall performance in 2025, and the other was for our social media utilization. Bravo Zulu Team!

The Guadalcanal Squadron of the Sea Cadets was aboard the USS Arlington LPD24 as she entered New York City harbor. The Arlington was the first naval vessel to enter the harbor in preparation for the Naval Review for the country’s 250th anniversary celebration. Bravo Zulu Sea Cadets!

The Upstate Young Marines participated with the Elks Lodge and Vets Helping Vets Greenville in the annual Flag Day ceremony at the Elks Lodge. Sgt. Major Roberts and his Young Marines did a great job, as always.

We congratulate the Greenville Triumph and GE Vernova on the opening of the new soccer stadium at Bridgeway Station. We were honored that the NJROTC unit from Mauldin High School presented the Colors prior to the start of the match.

Today, Council President Tom Donaldson and his wife Debbie delivered a huge load of books that the Council had collected to the Merchant Marines Library. These will hopefully bring some pleasure and company while at sea for extended periods of time. Thanks to Tom and Debbie, and to all that contributed to this event.

Laurens High School NJROTC recently held its annual award ceremony. Council President, Rear Admiral Tom Donaldson, UNC(ret.) was on hand and presented NS1 Concepción Romero with the Prestigious Theodore Roosevelt Award. Commander Borden presented NS4 Max Martin with the top Senior Cadet award. Well done to all Laurens award recipients!
